Thank you for that. But when you join in on trashing me because I didn't throw my job away don't expect a whole helluva lot of concern about hurting your feelings.:biggrin_25513:

For the record, my wife is my everything, we are total soul mates. I put nothing before her.... certainly not money. I knew fully about her ongoing health problems before we ever thought about getting married and they were a major part of my decision to move here instead of subjecting her to the so-called health care up in Canada.

As a matter of fact had she had any indication of the seriousness of her condition, she has a son living 50 miles away who would have driven her.

My reason for posting a part of my personal life was not to elicit either approval nor pity. It was done solely to remind those who are just entering the trade or just thinking about it of an issue they may not have considered fully. I see lots coming here talking about family left behind, small children, etc. At some point there will arise a medical emergency when you might be clear across the country away. At the very least y'all need to have a plan with your family members (in case this happens here's who you call, etc) but also give very careful consideration to whether or not you can handle the resulting emotional stress.

Newbs and Wannabe's.... this is the kind of things that we old guys mean when we speak about Trucking Lifestyle.

Kittyfoot, happy to hear that everything turned out o.k for you and your wife. Also thanks for sharing your story, so new and old drivers alike that read this, can make a plan in case they do encounter a similar emergency. Not many threads on this type of very important topic.

    GuysLady Thanks this.
