Why not strike?
Cause it is against the federal RICO act. And my backside isn't going to be meeting bubba anytime soon cause some people don't know how to take care of their own.

Besides it would be IMPOSSIBLE to get every driver to shut it DOWN , there would be the bottom dwellers who would see it as a chance for FAST $ and the freight would still get moved.

don't need EVERY driver to shut down and the bottom feeders couldn't begin to handle all the overflow.
and just when did the RICO laws state that I or any other driver has no choice on whether we drive or not, if me and 50% of my fellow drivers decide to take a vacation at the same time,show me what law say we are not allowed to do so! -
They did the TRUCKERS strike thing in Ontario Canada a few years back as well as a few shutdowns in Quebec , had no affect other than traffic tye ups.
General public had no support for the strikers as the TV crews always interviewed the BILLY BIG RIGGER types as thery polished the CHROME on their PETERMOBILES and cried about no $. -
I pick on Walmart because they are root of all evil in retail goods.
We all know it, we just don't admit it.
Walmart has closed so many manufacturers in Canada/USA in their venture to provide the cheapest product pricing. I love their new advertising "Live better" slogan.
Most stores bought product that was made in North America, Walmart went to China. To be competative other retail stores had to follow.
For years in Canada the government advertised to buy products "Made in Canada". It did not go over to well when Walmart came to Canada with similar products at 1/2 the price.
The government has to do something about it, however they won't because Walmart is to big. The people have to do something about it, however they can't they have to strech their dollar further. In doing so they have killed their own jobs and brought down their standard of living.
Product out of China is below par because Walmart tells the manufacturers they need a product at certain price point. With hundreds of manufacturers one of them will come up with the desired price.
We are playing with our lives. All China has to say one day "We are not shipping to the West" we are done. Our military depends on certain minerals to be shipped from China to Japan for production in military equipment.
The bottom line is why are we lining the pockets for Walmart and China.
If people in North America think Walmart is great they need to wake up. -

Was for a bit more than 1 day
, Auto industry was hurt by it ( instigator was with CAN TRUCK ) , lots of produce loads were not delivered , traffic tyeups along Major highways and border crossings.

How did I miss that one. I knew there was a strike by the farmers.
Major tyeups on highways is an everyday occurance, especially since all trucks are governed @65mph.
The border crossing was I believe a strike by the border guards on their right to carry fire arms. -
Better check your history , all you posted is nothing to do with what I posted.
Major truck blockades at bridges and along HWY 401 were in early 1990s , all your stuff was more recent.
I have not seen any problems with the 63 MPH trucks nor the LCVs on the 401 , just with the IDIOTS trying to break the sound barrier. -
Like I said I don't know how I missed that one.
In the early 1990's I was to busy causing trouble in university.
However I do recall a strike but don't recall the details.
As the 63mph trucks on the highways it does cause traffic jams. Escpecially in the Windsor-Toronto-Montreal corridor. Going back last year it took me almost an hour to pass 20+ some trucks.
