Better read up and you will find this all started in 2004.
What can you possibly be expecting? -
I just had a thought come to mind. Why is it such a big deal to the government if there are people in our country that are willing and able to work past the mandated 14 hour workday without getting fatigued easily?
Having someone regulating how long you can work is counter productive. Having eobr's ensures that you stay counter productive. Everything in this society is just ####### stupid. Sick of it all. -
I agree with your sentiment, Jim. Having personal experience with elogs, I found them to be counterproductive and a hinderance to actual safety. I was forced by an electronic device to run against my natural clock and found myself in a constant state of jet lag. It happens occasionally on paper logs due to customer scheduling on short runs, but I am able to much more quickly get back on schedule with paper. And yes, my logs do reflect my hours worked and locations of work performed.
I am not racing an electronic device any more. As a result, my driving is much more relaxed and less aggressive.
Legal does not always mean safe. But the pencilnecks will never understand that. If these devices are, in fact, required, rules regarding hours will have to be relaxed to give us the leeway to remain on a fairly even schedule. It's the only way it would work.JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
Well, legally they have to announce the proposed new HOS by Nov 4th.
I believe that is the date that was given on the lawsuit.
Then it will be open for comment again.
Good or bad I hope we can get more drivers to comment this time. Since driver response to the listening sessions when they were planning these new ones was very poor.
For the most part drivers would rather complain about a reg after the fact, instead of trying to head off the regs before they happen.
I have a feeling that they will have more flexability in the 14, but at the cost of having to have EOBR's.
I think that a deal was made at some point with the "safety" groups.JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
This Truck News writer thinks there is no valid argument against EOBRs.
