See come to work here we start you at .35 cpm. then we are gonna take .03 cpm away from you for the joy of working. oh yea and we are gonna park you in fl. in july for 4 days. we will pay you layover pay of $30 per day after the 1st 24hrs. but we are gonna charge you $45 per day starting hour 1 for ideling the truck. And i quote my operatins mngr." No way it was too hot not to just roll down the windows and cut off the truck."
Hate that they have ended my career (i tried westerex twice for the record but thanx) but after the 3 monthes with them i dont think i wanna be a trucker anymore. -
Well here is the deal with star, I no that star is basically a starter company. but let me ask u this if u cant even have the chance to get your app looked at how is it a starter company?. I was turned down, (immeaditaly) due to a misdemeanor running 10 years ago. they have a policy no felons ANYONE who has EVER had a drug related MISDEMEANOR. No offence to the felons out there, i guess the day has come to where PETTY crime has been put in the same leage as being a felon....
This job is some of my last hopes as a recent grad. By the way i was 17. Juvenile<---inless proven to be an adult... and i wasnt, all i had was a pack of rolling papers... and they said it was drug paraphenallia, which it is. but come on. I would like just like some other opinions to why they would do this. To me its some of the smelliest bull**** i have ever heard and had to deal with.... I hope this at least will save someone the heartache if they had planned on signing with them and ur a felon or MISDEMEANOR person....
ITS ####!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, you'll be able to hold yourself up as an example of what not to do when you have children. Of course living in a homeless shelter it's unlikely you'll have game enough to find anyone to have children with.
-
perhaps you should see if you could get that charge expunged off your record. give your local court a call and see what it costs
-
JERROD26: now my friend i no what your talking about , but let me say this. ANY company that will deny you employment for an offense such as that are not worth working for consider yourself lucky just saved you a lot of problems in the future.
you can if you choose to do so get your record expunged and it will cost you less then a thousand to do so BUT i doubt many companys will hold you back for that.
the reasaon they do that is because of the econamy , there are so many drivers out of work they can pick and choose at there leisure with no regard for the driver you will find when most of the drivers out there get back to work and they cant find any one to drive there junk all those stupid rules and qualifications will disapear.
but there are a lot of companys out there right now that have started hiring and they dont have such nonsense as part of there requiremnets dont give up you will find some one to put you to work.
good luck to you my friend remember you never lose till you quit, better days are comming.----southernpride -

I went to their orientation in Nashville and was told i was getting 30cpm and when i went in to do my interview to get hired they had dropped my pay down to 26cpm so i told them goodbye and some other choice words and went back home.also there were about 30 drivers in the drivers room who was waiting on loads all weekend long.

No trucks at orientation. 18 (experienced) drivers and 3 or 4 trucks, not to worry because their wasn't any freight, either. They really pushed the LTL deal, and the paperwork was insane. The sliding cpm and idling was bs, the "plus 3" and some of the payroll deductions were questionable. The recruiter I talked to on the phone (several times) lied through the whole deal, even though I made it a point to let him know I was experienced already. So much for professional courtesy. Covenant bought them out and are starving them out on purpose, Covenant is allowed to use all of Star's facilities while Star can only fuel at Covenant, they can't even park? WTF? Never talked to a satisfied driver, come to think of it. 700 , 1200 miles for the week? The waiting because you can't get in touch with dispatch on qualcom, 23 1/2 hour waits and then you get a load so they don't have to pay you that whopping $35. 4 left before orientation was over, (and it's only 3 days). That's pathetic.
