We have a couple of automatic tractors at my terminal, and nobody wants them except the line haul drivers. Thats all they are good for, line hauling. Can't bump a dock in the city with it without getting whiplash. Automatics = sissy trucks.

LOL, I've been hearing this for months, and yet, my neck and back are fine and I bump at least 2 dozen docks a week with my autoshift, that I've been driving for 10 yrs. So much for that theory!

Wonder if this is how it was when automatics started showing up in cars back in the day. It's called progress, sounds like some are afraid of progress. :biggrin_25524:

And as it should be, cars and trucks alike, if you like your autoshift/automatic, that is fine. But please (more towards today's four wheelers) still learn how to drive a manual. At least you know how and have a valid opinion on which tranny you like.

Just finished Day 1 of the US Ex orientation. The auto was fine. No problems making the switch. But.............it is confirmed US X IS switching to standard 10's. They received their first 150 and will be replacing the fleet over the next 3 years.

Thanks for at least answering the original post.

Sometimes I wonder if these arguments happen on airline forums. What you need to use autopilot for!?! Don't you know how to fly?!

    I mean really?

    striker Thanks this.
