It didn't lapse, but the AE7Q site shows 1984. That would have been my first renewal date. Time to talk to folks at my local club.

    Thanks.

It was my understanding that if you had a tech plus you would have kept that class until you upgraded to general which under the the new rules would have been a written test only.

    celticwolf Thanks this.

The tech license when I got mine was the General Call written and the novice code.

If I have to take another written test to get the general I will.

So what antenna are you running on your truck for 20m. Can I assume it's a multi-band of some type or do you have a 20m and 2m antenna?

Are the Russian still stepping on the ham bands with that silly radar of theirs?

I am still not sure what I am going to be allowed to put in a truck as a company driver, but it would be nice to have at least a 2m rig.

Good to know there are quite a few hams in trucks.

francis makes a 2 meter antenna. You wont find one at the truck stops but I got mine online. Mounts just like the cb antennas

I started out as a 32V20 Fixed Plant Carrier Equipment Repair. My MOS was combined with 26V (Strategic Microwave Systems Repair) I left the army doing the job of a 74F (Data Programmer).

I got the ham radio bug working the Net Control Station for Army MARS station in Germany. Worked 14 states from 14.402 and I wasn't a ham yet :)

My last duty assignment was at Ft. Monmouth assigned to a Joint Service Unit. I still have a picture of me getting promoted to Spec 5 buy a full bird Marine Colonel

    Neat ......

I was a E4 when i got out in 1970 and worked in the repair depot at Ft. Knox Ky. I did mine detectors as well as the AN/GRC3 tank radios
It was good training right out of 4 years of electronics school.
At that time i already had both my 1st class radio telephone and a HAM license .... and was on the air ...
