ok im a total noob havent even got into school yet but why dont you shift going down hill? you cant drop it into a lower gear to let the engine slow you down? say like 9th to 7th or 6th

how bout the jake break? how common is it for driver to not have brakes going down steep grade? we talking every other week? better chance of getting struck by lightning?

Well, it's best to shift down to the gear you need to descend the grade safely while you are still at the top of the hill, because under a full load it will want to get away from you. In neutral under those conditions a truck will take off like a missile. Not even an engine break willl help you then, as you have to be in gear for that to do it's intended job.

When jumping out of truck make sure to grab ankles and tuck n roll

I suppose there MAY be scenarios it'd work for. 15mph is slow enough, but try and remember: You're likely going to be moving at a good speed, AND you'll be falling 4 or 5 feet on top of THAT. People are hurt just falling out of a stationary truck....... Then again, if you KNOW you're gonna die, why not try it? Might as well die trying.

Shifting a big truck is nothing like shifting a car, a part of down shifting you need to hit the gas to get the rpm's up, and another part is the speed to a gear range has a small gap. A truck is heavy and can pick up to much speed before you can Grap the gear leaving to potential " Georgia coaster" ( going down hill in neutral). The same going up but the truck will slow down. Just loosing control going down is more common, ( I hope).

why dont they just add syncro's to the trucks transmissions instead of having to float or double clutch itd work the same as a car's tranny is it a cost issue or is it they just dont have the technology to do it to 9-18 gears

Didnt the rubber duck jump to safety? Seem to remember him having only an arm cast on after the explosion.

No way, Picture this if you will. A 20 mile back up going from a stop to 50 back to 20 to a stop up to 50 again, or like a road by me to get back to the yard, 18 miles and a red lights every 1/4 mile or so and non of witch are in sync, they are all triggered but sensors from impeding cars. Your leg will fall off, take note next time your in this situation, more then not, the big truck will never come to a complete stop, part of this is being that he/she can run that whole strip and never touch the clutch. And if they do then they have automatics or their just stupid.
