For those of you who say "If the weather is so bad etc...", be prepared to say that to some of these LTL carriers that pay $70,000 + or some of the local stuff out there where chaining up is an everyday occurrence in the late winter, that way they can let you know to not even fill out an app. Granted, no one likes throwing chains but after you do and your set to roll, you just slow down and get to where you gotta be to take them off, then be on your merry way. The people you see in the ditch are usually the one's that havent chained up in the first place and/or were going too fast

One big difference I see between carpenters and truck drivers is that carpenters understand that many tasks can be accomplished using a variety of techniques. I've learned something from (almost) every other carpenter I've ever worked around and a few of them have commented on the ways I do certain things.

An awful lot of truckers seem to believe that their way is the only way and everybody else's way is messed up.

Interesting social phenomenon and why I tend to keep my opinions to myself a lot of the time.
