I run a 1969 White Freightliner Tank Truck w/ 8V71 DD w/blower and turbo. Just the other day I pulled a fuel sample and noticed what looked like engine oil in the fuel ( It's dark and black ). Oil consumption is normal. I don't have any fuel in the engine oil. All looks and smells fine there. Also notice nothing weard in the cooling system eather. Could there be a bad seal in the fuel pump or ??:biggrin_2556: Oh-- The jacob's not working right eather... Any thing above 5th direct and over 1400 no jacobs.

Not sure but I hear a lot about supposedly algae thats black and slimy to the touch that I hear a lot of people complain about mostly from Pilot fuel but have never seen or gotten any to speak of. Heard a ton of people on KR's Sirius show talk about it. Also talks a lot of asphaltines (not sure what they are) that a lot of people are having trouble with in their fuel. I know there are places that you can send fuel samples and they can tell you what it is, just like you send oil samples. Not sure if any of that is your problem though, just my .02.

might just need some fuel conditioner--we used to get it jet A --a truck at that age probabely has had a lot of crappy fuel run thru it--just treat it and it will be ok

get some molycoat fuel treatment, this stuff will clean the ha3ll out of your fuel system, be sure you have several fuel filters with you.
I wasn't' having any problems but it was on sale one day and I bought a bottle to give a try,all I can say is WOW, I had just done a service a few days before I put it in the tank and the filter couldn't have had more than 2500 miles on them when all of a sudden, going down the highway and it starts spitting and a sputtering, I limped into a truck stop and figured out that the fuel filter was clogged, I cut it apart and couldn't believe how packed it was with crud, mostly algae, i had to change the filters three more time before all the crap was out of my system and the truck runs much better, with better mileage [about a half a mile more per gallon].
I now put a bottle in about every 10000 miles and haven't seen a lot of algae since I started this

Where do you get it. I'll install a golden rod filter housing assembly with filter as a prefilter before the first and secondary filters to trap the garbage. Besides, at a few bucks each I can change out when I fuel up. I can see what's going on thru the bow...
