OK. Let's take a little side road. My company has started adding trailers to the fleet that are equipped with the superwides. Anybody have any experience with them in winter? Is there a difference in handling?
-
Thank you everyone for your tips. I hope it helps some of the new drivers out there having to deal with their first winter on top of learning the ropes of the industry. And Glenn I have driven the supersingles but the company I was with at the time I was not in chain up areas. I hope someone can help you out with your question

stand on 'er, and hope the guy in front of you doesn't chicken out!, I always get a warm sense of pride when running up the hammer lane in a blizzard and hearing "there goes one of them #### Canadians"
P.S. if you are really nervous, better to stay off the road, nothing worse than a nervous driver in bad conditionstrucker_101 and Lil'Devil Thank this. -
In a snow storm you will most likely finded me in the hammer lane cruising along, less cars and alot less speeding up and then brakeing. Running in the snow is not rocket science stay of the binders as much as possible and maintain your speed and a good following distance allways helps. If its an ice storm or freezing rain i park it not because i cant drive in it because to many on the road cant and are to scared so i dont want to become there battering ram.

Ok I would like to make an update to one of the tips I gave. Rollover made an excellent point that I did not think of. Cat litter although it will help you get out makes a mess for the drivers coming in behind you. Sand and a small hand-held shovel would be the best thing to carry in case you get stuck. Thank you Rollover for the correction and I am sorry to all for the misinformation on that one.
Wanna drive Thanks this. -
I'd be the one in fount of you ,snow = traction ice don't.take a look at the road the next time your in a snow storm driving lane glossed wheel tracks, hammer lane snow covered .just don't drive faster than you can stop.

Tip; for windshield icing KEEP IT COLD I drove a salt shaker in northern Minnesota for years we would dress warm did not run the defrosters at all and just enough heat on the floor to keep your feet from freezing.Nothing would stick to the wind shield ,we would run 12 hour shifts in the worst that mouther nature could hand out.
KingOfHibernia Thanks this. -
