I can usb my phone to my laptop and share files. One year old Samsung. I can also put the memory card from the phone into the laptop and dump files on it, then put it back into the phone.
Neh?
Oh, and yeah, the recruiters take all comers, and you're only turned away (not accepted at this time or some such) for the usual reasons. About anyone who's not a felon or currently wanted, with a valid license and a decent history, can and usually are 'accepted' for schooling. It's the fine print in the version of the contract they offer for training and employment possibilities that can bite you if you don't read and ask questions and go blindly into it.
And don't be surprised if there's some 'problem' that comes up last minute during classes. I really think how you react is more important than 'the problem' that came up.
No sleeping in classes. No not speaking up and getting onto the early vans early when you need to so you're on time. Or arranging other transportation. I heard of a guy recently who rented across the street his second and third weeks. I really think they delight in testing your resolve and resourcefulness. They obviously test your physical and emotional stamina, as well as induce sleep-deprivation and fairly radical dietary changes through three months, 2/3 of which is in a moving, cramped, noisy, metal box with two perfect strangers. Oh, and while earning nothing at first, then a fairly small amount while moving while entombed. And of course while mostly cut off from home, friends and family, or anything else familiar. Man, I loved it!
Also, I begin to suspect the garage's infamous 'hurdles' are at least sometimes contrived to see if you'll do extra steps and calls to get things done. Same with most departments when you're out here. But mostly it's just redundant stupidity or laziness. Just like everywhere.

In mid PA this evening. Heading into Long Island for a 3PM delivery tomorrow, then up to Bahstin for two more drops monday morning.
Preplan to PU in NH monday afternoon and head for Chicago area.
Nice to be busy.
Was two hours short of a reset yesterday when the shipper called and demanded I be there ASAP! Broke my hours, went on down and sat in the dock for a live load for 4 hours before they started loading me.
Hope those girls get fleas. -

I am no longer with Stevens but the trip planning skills was, by far, one of the most valuable things I learned with the company. It has helped me tremendously. -
I have to say that so far I really like this Samsung Fascinate. Although I'm not very computer savvy I'm learning how to use it and getting along with the help of YouTubes. I also feel like I've arrived into the 21st. century. -
Hey Yall
Rode the dog home on Saturday while my class mates reported for roll call. Got to see the loved ones and picked up my permanent license, jumped back on the dog and here I am, all snuggle buggly at America's Best Value. Hope to get dispatched tomorrow but there seems to be a shortage of O-2 trainers. It's all good. Nothing like hugs and kisses from people you love to make the world a happy place. -
Well good ol' US Food took forever to unload me on my second stop today. In at 10am out at 4pm.
But they did have to take 3 pallets off the truck.
So my preschedule was canceled. However, speaking to my DM, asked if there was anything going to Portland.
Sure! he said. Got a candy load out of NH.
Gimme it!
So I got a load from Strathem NH to Portland.
Read the QC a little closer tonight.
Portland TN, not Portland OR.
Oh, we ll. You'd think I'd learn by now.
Other thing that looks funny. Says its only 1080 lbs.
Heck...they could put that in my mini cooper.
Probably a typo.
Unless I'm hauling a trailer of cotton candy -
got to love the ol us foods...they can mess up a good plan. A candy load, always heavy, maybe 1080 pieces.
Been running the night shift for the weekend thanks to the cold storage shipper in NJ. Took them all day to load, pull off, recount, change, reload, this 2 drop load. Frist drop was Ben E Keith Oklahoma city, and it only took 4 hours for 8 pallets broke into 32 pallets. Frozen Bread.
This morning setting in Sysco, The Colony Texas, pulling off the rest of the load, 14 pallets. Wonder how long they will take.. Have a pre plan to pick up at Kraft, and hustle up to longmont...but Sysco keeps me past 9am I won't make the appt at Wally World tomorrow. I will bet this weeks paycheck, that sysco holds me past 9am.
I wanted to catch the Pepsi load to Worland WY this week, but I am 2 days early... Think I would learn not to plan ahead...oh well they are finally bumping the trailer, then the massive breakdown begins. -
On the road again! Thank the almighty. I was snagged at the yard over some dump stuff of which I take most of the blame. Since I did get myself unscrewed no need to go into the details. The good thing about the mini fiasco is I got to go on a signature hunt that took me through all departments and put me in contact with all the powers that be this side of the executive office.
My 02 trainer is 25 years old. Nice young man. Much more relaxed atmosphere than with 01 trainer so looking forward to a fun and fast moving 21 days.
I type from the Laredo terminal. First time down here. We delivered the load he was under this morning are are now kicking back till the 6pm pick up then roll to N.C. then I.N. It's all good in the hood. -
Ryyrus-Do you (or anyone, really) know if Stevens is using the Kenworth's for the 0-12 month solo company drivers? Is the difference between a Freightliner or Volvo and the KW/Peter's the same as the difference between a Chevy and a Cadillac/Lincoln?...Thx, Tweed.
