here is a few things you need to know and its not a truck driver story some of it aint pretty.
so you got your cdl and your ready to drive that big truck , realy well think abaout it a miniute, you apply for a job at a trucking compny and after al the bs you get hired and you find your self sitting there get ready to pull out and you got a good load, goin to la ask youeself this what happens when you get to la do you have a load comming back i no they said you woud but what happens if they dont ever think about that? well you get there and guess what you ge ther and after siting all day you get unloaded and you call the company and they tell you go to truck stop an call them in the mourning now you dont get payed for sitting at truck stops but who cares your in a big truck, they do it evey day your not going to put up with it well let see you have an argument with your dispatcher and he fires you, tells you to clean the ruck out your done what do you do? well if your lucky you put a little money back so you can at least eat if not o well your going to get hungry and you still have to figure out how to get home, you say the wouldnt do that well guess what they do it evey day you say it's not legal well i got new's it's there truck they can do what ever they want and will and it's legal your own your own.
thats just one example of what these trucking company will do to you there are many many others so learn before you start outl earn to take care of yourself your going to need it and there is no suc h thing asa a good trucking company they all will lie to you and leave you stranded you got to learn to take care of yourself they will not in fact the only thing you can depend on is you so guid yourself acordingly .
now im nor trying to discourage any one jsut letting you no it 's not all peaches and cream it does have it's problems and you can overcome those problems if you prepare yourself bur if you dont this business will eat you alive.
don't belive a trucking company and a recruiter even less if it sounds o good to be truue you can bet it is , if you lean to take care of yourself it can be a good business but it aint all easy ive been out here all mylife and would not change it for anything buit then again i dont work for a company i have my own trucks dont give up just lean beore you start.
if you take the time to learn the bad first you can be a succes and make a little money to but like i said you got to learn to take care of your self that is a must if nyou dont your at the company's mercy not a good place to be. hope this helps some of you , best of luck to all. southernpride![]()

That's an exaggeration and most reputable companies would not do that. Sure it can happen but more not than often.
Yeah the punctuation is basically non-existent. Ask questions before you get hired. -
I couldn't agree more kdryan.
It's very hard to put confidence in a person's post on here when the post doesn't make any sense. I mean realy...REALLY...can you not find the spellchecker?????? It's the little button up on your toolbar. My computer has two of them. One I can just click the other I have to highlight the text then click. Either way I always use it because I don't want to come on here with a message that looks like I'm some redneck hick from the backwoods of Arkansas....pun intended....look where I'm REALLY from.
Your post did make me laugh though when you said the driver got into an argument with the dispatcher and the dispatcher fired him. I've told more than one dispatcher that they could go jump in a lake....not really what I said...just keeping it family friendly here on the site. I've never seen or talked to ANY dispatcher that has the ability to hire or fire anyone, and I've been in trucking since Dec '00.elliott Thanks this. -
kdryan, I will tell you one thing is that Southern pride is someone you really want to listen to and has a vast knowledge that many would love to have! Maybe you should read your own little quote at the bottom of your posts. And just to let you know that he had just had a bunch of strokes and heart attacks very recently!

All great advice for new drivers...
Always have enough money put back to get yourself home and be prepared for about anything..
Kinda reminds me of back in the mid 90's. I had a truck that lost a piston in Dallas. The shop was 2 weeks behind and dispatch said oh well!
I had the option of staying in a non running rig at a dealers lot or the worst hotel i ever seen..Between the prostitutes and gun shots the first night at that hotel i called dispatch. They refused to put me in another hotel.
I called a cab, went and bought extra luggage and cleaned out the truck.
Got a plane ticket and was home that night.
I told the company to fly me back when the truck was ready or find another driver.
Never heard from them so i never looked back.
ALWAYS have a back up plan.southernpride and scottied67 Thank this. -
