I have an HP Pavilion. Only issue i've had with it, is the cooling system needs revamped. HP said they'd fix it but I had to send it to them. I couldn't do without it when I was on the road.

The problems with Vista will work out eventually. But Sprint and the air card manufacturers really dropped the ball on not being ready for this. -
I think I am going to grab a Dell XPS M2010 for the road...I love the detachable bluetooth keyboard and the 20" screen...The remote is bluetooth as well and acts as a mouse...Probably could get by with less but since this will be my only source of entertainment, I need something that will do everything...

Had a Dell and absolutely hated it and their customer service sucked!
Bought a Toshiba Satellite and love it. Purchased the accident insurance and that has paid for itself already. Guess I'm pretty hard on it while on the truck. -

Since my warrenty has expired, I found I can purchase (new/used) DELL parts on EBay. I just upgraded my CPU (from 1.6Ghz) to 2.4Ghz, installed 1G ram, upgraded my video card (from 64Mb) to 128Mb, and put in a 120G HD. I am installing an internal wireless card next time I am home, and I may replace my LAN card as well (which isnt currently working). All for less than $450. Every upgrade was done with parts that DELL uses. (Plus, I put in a new screen last year) -

OOPS, This "FIX" only seems to work until you RE-BOOT, but there is a way to make this more-or-less perminant until you change the BIOS again.
RE-BOOT and as windows is starting, keep tapping on the "F2" key to enter the BIOS SET-UP Config Utility.
Go to "Page 6 of 7" by pressing the "Alt-P" keys. On the left side of the screen you will see the "Power Management".
There is two columns, the one on the left is for when you are "on Battery" while the column on the right is for "AC" power. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to change fields and the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to change VALUES. Change the "VALUE" of Power Management on AC to "Disabled". That will DISABLE the "Smart CPU" in XP while you are on AC and your CPU will run at full speed. You can also disable the Smart CPU for battery use, but it eats battery life.
