Ease up on the man! Don't jump on this forum and start insulting people that are trying to give you invaluable advice. Southernpride is a very experienced driver and he is recently suffered a severe stroke and heart attack. Show some respect or go somewhere else! This guy is merely trying to help you newbies who don't know what the hell you are doing!

Since you're so new to the forum you might want to take a look at the forum's policy on not attacking posters over spelling, punctuation, etc.
Hope you have a great day.RCpullerdude, chompi, Rerun8963 and 8 others Thank this. -

He can find the spellchecker if he can find the smiley faces and can log onto a computer and can figure out how to post here.
That brings up a very good point. MOST truck drivers start out very excited and willing to learn. Then around the 1 to 5 year point they get EXTREMELY lazy. I have seen it time and time again. Instead of all of the posts on how bad trucking companies are on here, why don't we talk about how bad truck drivers can be? I mean fair is fair. I have seen "experienced and seasoned" drivers out there that can't wash their trucks or their bodies. I have seen them pee in milk jugs and then pour it out the windows of their FLD's in the parking lot. Some just stand between the truck and trailer and do it. Sometimes when they are parked on the front row of the truckstop. I mean that is lazy when you can't walk 50 feet an go into the truckstop to do your business.
It ticks me off to no end to see a driver run down the road at 70 mph in a 45 or 55 mph zone. Then I come into the truckstop and the same driver is trying to squeeze into a parking stall next to the front door of the truckstop so they don't have to walk far. Meanwhile holding up everyone else from getting into the truckstop. I go into the restroom and a driver is sitting in the stall screaming and cursing on the cell phone and blasting out his diarrhea for everyone in the building to hear.....very professional. -
Ok, let's put the spelling aside and and look at the statement. First, it's not all that accurate and it is extremist. It assumes the dispatcher is at complete control of all the loads on his boards. Sometimes if you're dispatched, the dispatcher will be shown a load and that load could be canceled while you are in route. Sometimes it might be that another driver need to do that load to get him set up for home time, or perhaps he needed emergency home time. There are any number of situations why a load might not be available, once promised.
Let's also take a look at the driver attitude. A load is canceled and instead of understanding that sometimes #### happens, he gets defensive and start ######## at the dispatcher. How would you react if someone called you up yelling at you and accusing you of screwing him over? I don't know about you. but I tend to treat people as they treat me. If someone is cool, I will do my best for them. If they are being an #######, then too bad for you. That's human nature.
In order for a dispatcher to fire you over the phone when your truck is sitting at a truck stop somewhere, you would probably have to be so extreme in your reaction, this company is willing to risk whatever damage you are going to do to the truck, the possibility of theft because a truck and trailer is sitting there with the keys in it, and the cost and effort of recovering the truck. That alone is certainly not cheap.
This attitude of Us vs. Them is a main part of the reason drivers enjoy such poor relations with their companies. I would hazard a guess it contributes to how poorly we are treated by companies. It's not the only reason, but it would seem to be one. Are companies saints? No. Do they sometimes screw over drivers? Yes. But it has been my experience that people reap what they sow and from the post, it sounds like this driver got what was coming to him.
Now go re-read the original post and put yourself in a hiring situation. Would you hire this guy?dave_0755 and scottied67 Thank this. -

Like I said in my private response. I will tip toe around the daisies from now on with my responses.
I forget that there are a lot of tenderskin "seasoned" truckers out here.
I just wanted to point out that in order for someone to be taken seriously that they should have their spelling and context in order first. It's very hard to take advice seriously when a person can't stay on subject, gives false or misleading advice, or just plain is ranting with pointless results.
I rant way too much and I am the first to critique myself on that. At least when I rant I try to do it in an organized manner. Sorry for the offence. -
And you can find the link to the forum's policy on attacking another poster over spelling etc. if you WANTED to. Or you could just repost another insult about his spelling and thus prove you wish to troll and inflame.
Southernpride is a respected member of this forum with a vast knowledge and long time experience in this industry. If you don't like the way he posts.....then perhaps you should follow the instructions of the moderator, the policy of the forum, the suggestions of other posters and ignore his posts.
I know that's what I'll be doing in the future with regards to your very unprofessional posts.
