California law permits photo parking tickets

A new law in California is focused on getting rid of the dirt and grime that collects on streets around the state. It also makes it easier for local governments to write tickets. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill that authorizes the installation of automated ticketing machines on street sweepers. AB2567 allows local governments to contract with private companies for the installation and maintenance of the ticket cameras. The cameras will be used to identify vehicles that remain on streets during designated street-sweeping hours.

The camera program is estimated to generate 2 million citations each year.
Photos will record the date and time of the violation. Citations will be mailed to the owners of vehicles.

Not a bad idea. I used to run a street sweeper and there is nothing worst than not being able to do what you are paid to do because morons who park on the streets during designated sweeping hours.

Why stop with street sweepers??? Why not garbage trucks, city construction crews, school crossing guards, high school janitors ......the "California Gestapo " will find you!!!

Do you think they should have ticket quotas like a real police officer???
