April 6, 2007 - A fiery crash on the Kennedy Expressway near downtown Chicago this morning left a man dead and clogged traffic in both directions for several hours.
The 54-year-old Wisconsin man killed in the crash was transporting cantaloupes when the semi-truck he was driving crashed into the median wall near the Grand Avenue underpass and burst into flames just after 4 a.m. Police say the truck driver apparently lost control while trying to avoid an SUV.
Emergency crews were unable to free the truck driver as flames engulfed the cab.
