You are one of the few lucky ones. My husband did 2 stints with them. One as a company driver back in 2000.......Little miles. He averaged 1800 a week. Then I don't know what processed him to do it but he gave the Lease Purchase Agreement with them a go ...I don't know what you consider great pay is but when he was getting pay like $230.00, $66.00, and -$54.00. I'd say they suck. In addition they feed you BS like you are a mushroom. So for us it's personal experience.

I worked for them a very, very, short time in 1992. They sent me to school (paid by the company, no contract), went out with my trainer, and for the short amount of time I was out there, I got plenty of miles. Much has changed since then for all companies, but the reason I left was the whole slip-seating thing. When I come home for 3-4 days off, the last thing I wanted to do was clean everything out of my truck.

So basically, it was two things that caused me to leave
    • Slip Seating - which many companies did back then
    • Other drivers - Not other JB drivers, but all the other classless jerks who felt they had nothing better to do than make fun of a JB Hunt driver (whether they are doing anything wrong or not).
Sure, there were other minor things that I didn't like, but at the time, those things were basically the same for any place I could work as a beginning driver.

    Sportsoutlaw,

I hear ya with making fun of you just becasue you worked for JB it was the same way when i worked for werner, just idiots jaw jacking becasue we worked with a big company who has alot of bad drivers that don't know how to drive and or park straight at a truck stop. I just worked for werner for about two years just get my expriance and move on.

I can recall one time i was delivering down in laredo tx i found a spot at the flying J and this guy came up to me and said "you have a terminal not even five minutes from hear and you have to come hear and park!!" This guy was madder than a hornet i almost got out and fought him but what good would that do. All i wanted was something to eat, and when he got back in his truck he said, "Another day with Werner we suck enterprises" And then yup you guessed it everyone else started to join him. Its just a never ending battle with all these big companies.:yes2557:

He never brought home that amount with JB Hunt. If he was lucky he would get 625.00 for the week but that was few and far between. And I know a lease purchase with any company sucks.

The thing that bothered me the most about JB was the short trips. I did pretty well and still averaged about 2500 miles a week but I got really tried of getting loaded/unloaded or dropping/hooking everyday. I did a short-term lease partly so I could turn down loads like that. Of course, I quickly learned that if you turn down a load your dispatcher will hate you and make you pay for it.

Im about to leave JB. However I have heard some interesting things. I slip seat near baton rouge usually. Sometimes I do it at the Richland yard. I was talking to another jb driver at the port allen yard at that time. He told me he switched his address to San Antonio (I think) TX to get a different fleet manager. He said his current fm gives him a lot more miles than the one I have out of the baton rouge area. And he said his fm doesnt lie like mine does. His fm makes sure he gets home during the day time of his scheduled home time. Im lucky if I get in during the night of my scheduled home time. So apparently a lot of the good and bad with JB depends on the fleet manager. I still think other smaller companies that require experience are better.

And if I was closer to home I would have already departed the company. I dont give a #### what they put on my DAC report. They could lie anyways. And by the way, Ive been with these jokers for almost 2 years now.

Style, you should care today about what they put on your DAC. If they try to play any games with you, you'll be feeling pain and definitely caring about what's on your DAC tomorrow or next week.

Maybe you should stay on with JB, only change your address to San Antonio or someplace near there. You got any relatives or friends living around SA?
