Central Refrigerated Truck Stop

I am starting at Central on the 15th of Nov. Anyone else starting at the SLC terminal that same day? Sucks I'm going to be gone for the holidays, but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes to make things work out in the long run. Good luck to you in school and otr large!

 

Does only rather dumb people fail the test? Or does even people who were smart at school fail the test, (either the driving part or the written exam part)

If you'll actually read the book, do a little studying, and answer the questions that are in there, you should do fine. (Oklahoma's has questions anyway) Also, when I went thru my school, they taught the test so that will also help. DON'T let yourself get overwhelmed by what your looking at!!! Take a chapter, read it a couple of times, absorb it, then move to the next one. Little bites!!!!
Driving test can be a whole nudder story. Not that its hard but that YOU"LL try to make it hard by being scared of it. Stay calm, cool, and collected and you should do just fine.

 

The school is designed to help you get your CDL. Its not designed to make you fail. If you don't try don't listen and don't absorb what you can then you will not pass. Its really that simple. Central is a training company and the more students they have pass the better it is for them. But they will not hold your hand if you don't put forth the effort. Only one person in my class failed the Permit test but he didn't study with any of us. He didn't even really try. We only had one other person fail and that was the driving test. Everyone tried to get her to work with one of the other students with shifting because that was her problem but she wouldn't. But everyone else worked together and we all passed.

 

There are PLENTY of dumb people driving trucks nowadays. I don't think your academic record has any bearing on whether or not you are a safe and efficient driver though.

 

why do some people choose to work at lowes and not home depot or kmart and not wal mart why do some drive a ford and not a chevy or why do some people drink bud and others miller lite? they just do.

 

Yes they do have some female trainers. May have to wait for one, as they are usually in high demand.

 

these people sometimes lied on their applications about convictions, etc and when Central digs and finds things they are sent home, at that point some then try to go to CRE or CRST from there. I have seen the opposite also, people leaving CRE and walking down to try to get a job at Central. CRE has nicer trailers and everyone has a Freightliner it seems, maybe they like the standard equipment, maybe cause their trailers look nicer, I am not sure. The downside to CRE is once you are off trainer truck you are to sign a lease for your truck. No options for that.

 

Some people tense up or freeze up cause there is a lot to remember. After you start doing it day after day, it becomes routine, and becomes easier. Not to mention once you get to a truck then things start to click and fall into place on what the text was refering to.
