The reason this is funny is because Werner is known for not paying, being a bottom feeding company, and taking ppl right out of school.

I have six years of local experience. I have driven approx 750k miles safely with no DoT recordable accidents. Recieved multiple safe driving awards at my company, and I'm a driving instructor with said company.

So, six years of experience, with 1 place, not bouncing from job to job, being a driver trainer, and never having a wreck. Sounds good right? Sounds like any company should take me.

Herein lies the "problem". I have a record. I have a speeding ticket for 89/70 in personal vehicle from 11/21/2007. And a "driving without due care" also personal vehicle for 5/01/2008. 7 pts total. 4 pts speeding 3 pts on the other ticket.

I also want to point out, I was never charged with any reckless driving, never had a suspension, no DUI or felonies, ever. Never been arrested. I just have a speeding habit (or used to).

So because I went a little fast one time when I was in a hurry, that means I'm an un-fit driver for Werner (of all places), nevermind my safe driving record and achievements.

What makes it funnier is that my WIFE, who is only 21, never driven a truck in her life, is currently pre-hired thru Werner after she graduates trucking school. So a brand-new driver, who doesn't know what they're doing, is going to be a safer driver than me? With almost a million miles of busting my ###.

I probably could have waited a couple weeks until my ticket comes off (Werner goes back 3 yrs), but I figured what the heck and would try anyways, werner isn't THAT strict, right? I was sure proven wrong...

    What am I missing?

7 pts is pretty extreme in most circles so all I can think of is the ability to get insured...

I see your point, but I guess they didn't take into account that by the time I've given my two weeks notice with my current job, and I've gone thru orientation/ training with Werner, that ticket would be off my record.

Maybe they don't care to look that far ahead. Ah well. This is the price I pay for being a hot-head in my mid-20's. But seriously though, Werner rejected me, lol.

Consider yourself lucky. Werner is bottom of the barrel and they ####-can many a new driver with nonsense terminations and false DAC reports.

Werner has all the power and we drivers have to keep our personal driving records clean, or you get unemployable or have to work for shady outfits that will treat you like dirt and kick you under the bus, like Werner, but even worse.

I dont have to tell you to slow it down. Think of this as a lesson and move on. 90 in a 70 mph zone is reckless driving in my personal opinion, BTW.

According to an insurance company (that prevented me from getting work) the one speeding ticket on my record combined with the one I received 4+ years ago labels me as a "habitual offender".

    coverage DENIED....

I agree that it was very reckless of me to be going so fast. But I also don't think one should be barred from a career path for 5-10 yrs for being in a hurry one time in their personal vehicle. In no way does that reflect how I would drive behind the wheel of a tractor trailer.

Meanwhile, I checked FL's laws and it appears that the points come off my license after 3 years for insurance purposes. I think that's why they were afraid to hire me. 7 pts is too much. Maybe in another month.

    Lesson learned.

No offense Markers, but "in a hurry" is kind of an understatement at just shy of 20 mph over the limit... Then not even six months later the next ticket. Doesn't matter much, if at all, what you were driving, since it all goes to the same MVR anyway and in truth, most peoples' driving habits carry over from car to truck... Sorry if that's #####y! No big loss losing Werner, though.

    You were over qualified.
They know that since you are an experianced driver you would see right thru there BS.
So it was not worth hireing you, since you would leave within a few months anyway.
