You need to get your motor work done at freightliner. they are the best detroit mechanics. I know pete won't even touch one. they act like they never put them in their trucks now. The shaker shack on ryan rd is a good shop. if you let them work on it overnight they will cut you a deal on labor too

that bolt in the frnt housing does wear out OFTEN and when it does it's a pain. One I was driving would throw belts every few weeks you always had to have an extra set.

the bolt is threaded into the edge of the cover. I drilled it al the way through and put a long bolt all the way through and put a two nuts on the back. side of the cover. problem solved. Although to this day I have scar tissue from burning my finger from the nail to the big knuckle from trying to get that bolt put back on while on the side of a mountain with a super hot motor

I have been to TC (Freightshaker dealer) a few times. I am good friends with the 2nd shift SM.

My bolt goes thru the front cover. It doesnt thread into it. I presume you mean the lower 6" long bolt? Goes thru the cover thru both bottom ears and I have a locknut on the backside with a washer. Nothing threads into the front cover..so maybe someone before me already did this modification? In fact, if I undo the nut I can just pull the entire 6" bolt right out...

    I don't know,...

I think the second one looks like it is just a little off kilter,......

You might have to redo it just to be sure,..

Are you putting in any sound proofing of insulation and taking care of any inside wiring while you have the inside apart,..
