Yea thats what I meant, its very hard for New drivers to find a job with a Decent company that far north.

I can't say anything personally bad about swift as I've never worked for them, and none of my friends that have worked for them had too many bad things to say about them.

BUT for JB HUNT.........RUN........RUN VERY FAST away from these idiots. Other then the obvious BS that you'll get from them, they are FAMOUS for destroying there drivers DAC reports when they leave.....but its not all bad! they WILL remove everything from you DAC IF you come back to work for them................there a bunch of winners over there :biggrin_2559:

Ohhh boy. Idk this isn't my career I just want to hit the road for a few years before I finish med school (3years). I want to see the country and drive a sweet rig meeet crazy people. Yanno have a couple storys to tell before I'm a boring doctor haha. I've alwaysed loved the trucker "scene". The long trips the open road crappy truck stops sweet truck stops love it. As a biker in NH I understand the "brotherhood" of being a part of a large community or interest hobby/job. Trucking is deff one I want under my belt

just know that pretty much all you see is the truck stops and the customers. you may drive by some good places to be but unless you can get a reset in near it and take a cab you arent getting much sightseeing in. my family keeps thinking im having fun being a tourist. nope, im working 12 hours a day most of the time,or more. that isnt complaining, more work is more money. just not a tourist

though if you dont care about getting home, you can take your hometime off near a place you want to see

unless something has changed you cannot have a gun in the truck with you...i think it is a federal offense... but good luck out here on the road.

a job up north should not be too much of a problem, you are close to the canadian border, so you might get more canada runs than anyone else would. just be sure you have a place to park the rig. and yeah, "NUTTTS" will find you a job, and here's how.....you'll be asked, got a pc, can you get online, here are some sites to visit.......

and i can assure you. NUTTTS doesn't have the "cream of the crop" companies to choose from.

if you think a standard issue rig is sweet......you need a shot of insulin...
if you think you are going to see the country, well you will but you ain't about to stop every so often and "sight see" every little place you think you can.
if you think truck stops are sweet..well yes they are.....the "sweet smell" of urine on a hot muggy day, makes me wanna puke.....
as a trucker, yes, you will be part of a "brotherhood", a brotherhood of loner's and ignorant fools.

yep, that's all we ever have is "fun" out there.....

NETTS blows? Haha ive heard 50/50 I have 3 friends who went and have decent jobs and got good training. Maybe the other divisions are bad? From what I have researched (a lot) it seems to have a decent rep for the massachusetts NH area. I don't have much of a choice for my area. I'm willing to take the risk.

Maybe I made my assumption sound too happy haha. What I mean is I'm just down for the adventure of trucking. I know I'm not going to site see or be able to stop haha. Just driving through a state is enough for me. I'm easily entertained. I need a change in my life for the time being. I want to be away from everyone for a while (better than joining the military)

To each is own though. Thats why I ask, I most defiantly appreciate all of your opinions. dont get me wrong it seems like most of you try to talk people like me out of doing this. Reason? Seem like I'm putting the job on the pedestal? I know it can be most likely will be a #### show.

Maybe i do need a shot of snake insulin haha.

NO, NUTTTS IS NUTTTS.....you may very well be going to "the college" there in mass that has a contract/agreement with NUTTTS to do the training and they also (NUTTTS) provides the trucks.

i can assure you that many students going to NUTTTS have got to be NUTS to go there. they WILL NOT work hard at finding YOU a job. you will be asked if you have access to a pc, if you say no, they say, "come here use ours to find a job"........it ain't like it USED TO BE back in the old days when they actually HAD a placement person that actually DID help you find work...

but in any event, yes, sadly that is pretty much your only choice, but there is also Parker out of Avon, Mass. in any event, do not for a minute think that you will get ALL the training (or road time) you should be getting for your dollars...

like i mentioned in other posts, "i kinda know NUTTTS, and how they operate"........

    i wish you well too.

I appriciate the advise. Like I said, not a career just something I want to do to get away for a while. I make 20k a year right now. So if I do this for 2 or 3 years I could pay some serious debt off. I do want to do this I'm not doing so just to pay my debts or cause its just "driving". I'm aware of that. So ill take the risk and see how it goes.
