Well I am starting with WTI Transportation in about a week. Nervous a little but ready for the change. I have been driving in the oilfield for 3 years and it's either feast or famine so I am looking forward to this change. It will be strange having a sleeper instead of a motel each night I am out and I am sure there will be some other things to get used to but oh well.

Youre right in being concerned but I think its the same with anything you start right now. The economy has effected everyone but I dont watch the news because they are only going to tell part of the story anyway. Trust in the Lord to provide because He will. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I posted an application online and the phone has rang off the hook for the last 3 weeks.
All the same old BS from the head hunters. All the big companies calling with the BS promises..
Been driving for over 26 years with no accidents and a currently clean MVR and DAC.
Funny thing is they all offered mileage pay that was about what i was making 15 years ago. That based on experience is bull!

Took an offer for hourly pay,US mail route all drop and hook.
Home every other night at worst, some routes are home every night.
I like the idea of hourly pay...

Monday is orientation...never done that before.

Will see how it turns out.

Thanks Dave! And best of luck to you! I drive up to Virginia tomorrow for Monday orientation.
At least it is a one day deal.

I have heard good and bad things about the bulk mail runs but the hourly pay is a good plus.
I will kinda miss pulling frozen...

Well, here is the latest on my trip to WTI. I went down there and went through all the paperwork, the road test, learned progressive shifting, load securement for steel coils and even passed their 3 hour agility test. I passed my DOT physical and then the problem.
If you are a veteran, a combat vet, and you are being treated for PTSD then there is a requirement per USDOT rules that you have to have a release to operate a commercial vehicle before you can get your medical card. My doctor at the VA refuses to send a letter stating that because he thinks he could be held lible.
This is the ONLY thing keeping me from getting into a truck with WTI. I cant say enough for how hard they have tried to get this fixed with my doctor. Good people there in my opinion.
