Maverick Transportation Physical Agility Test

    Has anyone out there been through Maverick's physical agility testing and is there truth to the fact that you have to lift 130lbs of sandfilled bags over your head without hesitation after having lifted various other weights previously? It's not impossible, but most people aren't able to do this after having lifted other weight and worn themselves out. I guess this is to simulate lifting a tarp onto the flatbed but they don't weigh that much do they?

    The Maverick agility test is quite extensive. You will do a lot of lifting.
    On the sand bags, no it will not bee over your head. Just chest height, and it's only 120 Lbs.

    you only qualify for the lifting portion of the physical agility test if you successfully complete the face forward rappell (sp) down 10 Maverick Temp Control Division trailers stacked atop each other and the 5 day swamp survival exercise across the street from HQ.

    Just kidding. No sand bags over the head and yes they need to make shure you are strong enough to lift the tarp from the ground onto the trailer. When I went through, we used a rolled up 8 foot drop tarp. up, down, up again and that was it.

    I heard that WTI is patterened along the same lines. The boxes at the first of the test were the worst part IMO. The boxes of weights later on and even the 140 lb. tarp lifting wasnt too bad. Blood pressure is a biggie though. If its high just be sure and have it under control or its pretty much an automatic "fail".

    Blood pressure has never been an issue as I am in great shape. Thanks for the info. I will keep my progress posted here as I go through orientation.

    I will be going to orientation there in the morning, temp controlled division. I just got my CDL Tuesday through a State program, and I am most concerned about the driving skills test, as passing the alley dock parking on the State skills test was really a challenge for me, I need much more practice and had hoped to have a chance to improve, with that practice. Anyone know what they expect as far as actual parking/docking skills go? Thanks.

    When I went through orientation 2 years ago, it was a simple road test and pre trip inspection. Do NOT speed on the road test, do not roll backwards from a stop, which is easier to do than you might think, seeing that all the trucks are two pedal autos, so you need to kind of do a little bit of a powerbreak. Do not run a stop sign like the guy I was riding with did. Don't cross the centerline, don't bump curbs. That's a few of the things I remember as being pretty much automatic failures. We didn't do any backing or docking, that could have changed though.

    Don't know if the reefer div is any different.
