Y2k - The important thing is that you learn from this experience. At May trucking company what matters most to them is honesty. I read in a previous post someone mentioned the expense to retool another driver and that is true, it is expensive. Fender benders are to be expected with entry level drivers. You will have to do skills development again (remember wheel left head left. etc, wheel should follow where the head goes! ! !)
PS: I have been in town since Friday and will be at the terminal on Monday as well! Hope to meet ya, Come get a coffee with me will talk about all this!See ya tomorrow.

There's a reason good companies require 1 or 2 years experience...things like this! Not saying it couldn't happen to an old pro...but probably not. Things become instinctive as you gain more experience, things like watching every corner of your rig. Kinda like when you were 16 and got your learners permit...you were nervously aware of things and had to concentrate to drive. Then after a period of time...you were chewing gum, smoking a cigarette, changing the radio station, talking to your buddy in the back seat, and had your hand on your girlfriends leg!
I remember being a rookie, and letting one of my steer tires get off the pavement and onto some grass whille I was trying to back into a dock somewhere. Guess what...that tire just sunk into that grass and I was stuck! I managed to get myself out after about twenty minutes and a fantastic rut in the customers grass. Point is...that was a rookie mistake.
I hope things go well for you with this situation. And yo will not do that again! Just like I won't let my steer tire get into the grass! -
Hey Steve that would be great, hope to see ya in the morning,I'll be there about 08:00 and probably a little earlier.

Thanks,I know what I did wrong and it is etched into my brain forever lol.
I got too focused on looking for a spot to park and lost for a moment focus on where my trailer was going.
Something in the back of my brain started to kick in and say "where's your trailer", at just that moment as I turned my head toward my mirror I heard that sickening crunch!
I was barley moving and stopped quickly but the damage was done.
I don't have a crystal ball so I can't honestly say it will never happen again but I can say I really doubt it as it'll be on my mind every time I even see a row of parked trucks. -
It's good you get to talk about it on here. When I started there was no internet. You just had to suck it up and sweat it out all by yourself. All newbies have incidences and they learn from their mistakes. No school can prepare you for all the life experiences on the road. I'm sure this will make you a better driver on the road to experience.
