Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Serious drivers? As opposed to what, a bunch of clowns?
Good luck on that one...
But I'm very happy to hear a small business is able to expand. It's great news in this economy.homme Thanks this. -
Injun, addressing the serious drivers comment by Tom. I work for Total - I see a FEW "serious" drivers. The rest, those guys and girls we serious drivers have to do constant repowers for, seem to start whining at about the 250-300 mile per day mark, or at the 3-4 consecutive decently busy day mark. It's ALWAYS something, some excuse, or a fictitious breakdown, or an actual scenario where they messed up and now DOT has shut them down, they got a ticket, late on a load, etc.
USUALLY, though, it's because they haven't bought into the concept that this is a real job, you have to work, etc...they'd rather spend what little money they make at the casino or they're laid up in bed at their baby's momma's house.
Talking to my terminal manager, it appears that about 5% of his fleet are "serious" drivers - those he can count on to answer their phone, show up on time, get the load there on time, run clean so their log books don't look like a scratched out roadmap (and get shut down), etc.
I think asking for "serious" drivers is a very valid request, considering that serious folks don't come along too often, especially during these times. These aren't the good old days where 95% of the drivers were attentive, serious, had a good work ethic, etc. I'd say those stats have reversed themselves.Last edited: Nov 30, 2010

Mr. Lewis:
It was a joke.
I, too, am one of the drivers who would be considered "serious" in your context.
But you have to admit, many "serious" drivers really know how to cut up and can bring us to tears from laughing so hard. "Serious" drivers also know it takes a great sense of humor to do this job for any length of time.
Again, I congratulate our O/P on the expansion of his business. I love seeing the "little guy" get ahead.
