Acceptable and what you will make are two different things. lol
.22-.30/mile is starting, from what I gather.egreen Thanks this. -
If you make $24 grand your first year, you're doing good. (gross). Good money management is essential in this biz. That's not to say you can't make more, but, as a norm, figure that amount I mentioned.

WOW! That is a low figure! Considering they probably took experienced and non experienced pay. So does this mean the recruiters and mega-carrier ads really do lie? Hmmmmm. -
All i can say is A HELL OF A LOT LESS THAN WE SHOULD MAKE!

I'll be starting my first driving job on Monday. After training I'll be at 40 cpm; talking to other drivers I know that I can expect between 10-12k miles monthly. Ads pay covers tarping, untarp, load, unload, waiting (after couple hours), smoke tarp and a couple other things I can't remember. Fuel bonus is 1.5 cpm on a monthly basis. This, of course, means that idling is kept at a bare minimum, but all sleeper cabs have an espar or wabasto installed. From what I was told, I am allowed to idle overnight (for A/C for example) but cannot expect a fuel bonus if I do it more than a few times a month. I'm glad they at least give an option.
This is for medium-ish sized Canadian carrier (180-200 trucks) pulling flatdecks. From what I can tell the mega carriers (you know who) are no where close to this, but smaller ones are in the same range pay-wise. Schmud0811 has a nice thread here about driving in the flats division for Swift and is a new driver. He doesn't seem to happy about the miles recently but is having a good time otherwise.egreen Thanks this. -
A new driver fresh out of school that is going OTR can expect to get .25CPM-.40CPM. And can expect to GROSS between $25,000 and $40,000 there first year, most new OTR drivers start on the lower end of the CPM and yearly GROSS.
But a new driver should be looking at more then just the CPM or what they'll make there first year.
