No railroad tracks go anywhere NEAR the mall that I go to, nor either grocery store I go to. I don't see it happening without MASSIVE property seizures and laying railways where there are none/used to be.

Not to mention the time and expense involved in the making of the tracks.

Rail is a dinosaur and will not be competitive with most of the truck freight.

There is no way they could be competitive these days as cheap as some of these morons haul for.

They can lay track faster than you can repave a 4 lane interstate highway. They have a machine that can weld track 24 hours a day.

    Maybe so.

But you have to get the land.
Get it set to lay the rail.

Get the rail to the site.

    Will not happen.

There are plenty of useless streets that can be converted to rail for a lot less than it costs to pave a road for 18 rubber wheeled trucks. Since a single train hauling hundreds of trailers only uses maybe 5 crew members, compared to the hundreds of drivers that they dont have to pay anymore, profit will be the motivating factor.
