What was the longest amount of time you ever spent getting your axle weights legal using your sliding tandems? What was the cause of the delay? What was the most frustrating part?

45 minutes sliding tandems.... stuck pins and really heavy load (3axle reefer). That's where I figured out the vice grip trick. After that it was 10 minutes max.

1.5 hrs balancing drop axles... had tag axle on truck and trailer...

When you pull the handle out you can slap a pair of vise grips on it so it will not slide back in as your rocking your trailer back and forth trying to get the pins to come out. I dont recall the longest time I've spent trying to slide a set but I do remember having some tough ones. Pins wont come out of the hole. Pins wont go back in the holes or only two or three would go back in. A lock bar thats bent so much you cant remove it. Not sure if they even use those any more. Rails that are so rusted and corroded you cant get them to slide no matter what you put on them.

    Palazon Thanks this.

Trailer from H**l!!! I did a drop and hook at Miller Brewery and it was a regular pull the handle out type of slider, So I had to cross the State scale to get to the CAT Scale :biggrin_25513: I got pulled in for being 2000lbs over on my drives. Luckily the DOT guy was cool and just said slide your tandems 4 holes back and your good to go. So I go out to slide them and the pins wouldn't come out I even enlisted the help of an O/O that got pulled in for the same thing and with him holding the handle and me rocking NOTHING 35 minutes later after I had BEAT ALL 4 PINS in with a F***kin hammer I was finally able to move the tandem, then when I hit the CAT scale after I found out that the 4 holes the DOT guys said to slide them wasn't enough but I didn't care and just ran it like that lol.

Then I unloaded that and reloaded at Samual Adams Brewery and had pretty much the same problem with the SAME trailer at a T/S with another driver trying to help me slide them, this time it only took 10minutes though.

Then the other day I had a trailer with the handle that you lift up and its suposed to STAY up haha ya right, I tried 20 minutes to get the handle to stay up, it wouldn't do it so I said screw it and gave up lol I was only trying to slide them so I could get into this really tight hole.

We have allot of trailers with the AIR Slide tandems, I LOVE these trailers I haven't had a problem with any of them ......yet

Drop the aor out of the trailer bags if you want to slide ahead. They can only stretch so far before you rip them off.

Thats where the vise grips or a little stick to jam in the hole would have helped

Vice grips on what? I'm not talking about the ones with the handle that pulls out (putting the Vice Grips on these ones keeps the handle from retracting) I'm talking about the trailers thay have a long flat handle thats in front of the trailer tire that you lift UP and its suposed to hook on this little lip Vice grips would do nothing on this type.....
