Ya know owner operators can take a lot of pride in their profession, but as far as being skilled drivers. Many aren't any better then company drivers specially as far as manners are concerned.
I'm at whites truck stop in VA. A trucker was trying to back into a space. A o/o commingle out of a fuel isle wouldn't give the Guy room enough so he could back into the space. So they both just waited there for bout 5 mins for someone to make a move.

How do you know he was an O/O? Lots of drivers out here that people think are O/O's are not they simply drive for one and are no more than a company driver. Either way very few people have any manners anymore O/O or company driver.

so do you mean to say a company driver (some at least) do not take any pride in their profession...??

i for one, when i was a company driver, i'd pull into the Blue Beacon at the exit 40 in Milford, CT, every saturday morning, and got my entire rig washed. it WAS a company rig, and of course they paid for it, but I STILL got it done, with out ever being told to do so. the interior of mt rig was so clean, as the old saying goes, "you could have eaten off my floor"......

i never backed into any loading docks, with out permission or cutting off another driver, i always waited to be told what door and when i could back in.

at the fuel islands, i would always pull forward to the "stop line" so another driver can pull in an fuel up.

i always allowed another driver to back into a parking space.

owner-operators not all but a few i would surmise, are lousy businessmen, poor drivers, just barley hanging on by a thread because as NOT a businessman, they don't now how to control thier cash flow.

company drivers, not all but a few i would surmise, are ignoramuses, lousy at keeping thier trucks clean as well as themselves, can't back up, can't park, can't pass others properly, can't read a map, can't talk properly to any DOT or other police officer, think only of themselves, and DON'T WAIT for others to back up, and etc,etc......

i'm sure the list of o/o's compared to company drivers can go on forever, but suffice it to say, BOTH CAN BE AS IGNORANT AS ALL HELL......!!!

    Agree with all points.
At one time I was a company driver and now I'm an owner operator. I do not feel that I'm better or superior to company drivers. We're all out there trying to make a living, we like what we do and so on...

I will wait for someone to do whatever it is that they are trying to do and give them plenty of room to do it....But it seems like I usually hear someone on the radio cryin' because they're having to wait for me and whoever I'm waiting for...Manners are only learned by those who were taught them.
