Maybe they are getting picky about tires on the trailer that come thru the yard, but it is still a battle to get a tire replaced on a trailer on the road.

The lack of planning, and fore thought is lacking at Stevens...it is a culture thing with them too. Proper planning prevents future mistakes...stevens policy of slam a truck under a load, and we will fix it later is indicative of the lack of planning. Something I continue to work and battle over. Communication between people in Dallas is also lacking, there are walls between each department, as each department is a fiefdom. Each DM's fleet is a fiefdom too.

I am glad to hear that pat says they will be keeping the APUs although ROA (return on investment) is not there. The comfort and rest I get with an APU as compared to not having it, is amazing.

There were 2 skirted trailers during driver appreciation week also. I am sure Stevens will go with the cheapest, just meet the Cally requirement, instead of purchasing ones that will hold up to the abuse they will receive, and help with fuel mileage, instead of hurting it. The T700's are a perfect example of hurting fuel economy.

The sleep apnea rules are being made up as they go, as there is NO requirement at this time, and no regulation about sleep apnea.

Yes Stevens hires out of Michigan...but ask Mr Carver about getting home. Shift pattern and tightness has nothing to do with KW Pete, Volvo, but is it an Eaton/fuller, or Meritor transmission. Stevens uses Eaton/Fuller convertable 9 speeds, that they call an 8 speed. Quick conversion to a 13 speed when it comes time to sell.

Any of you guys ever work for KLLM? I got a prehire from them also and they look pretty interesting as to Training pay($450 week) and .32 a mile after training and pay off balance of school loan after a year while paying $150 a month towards loan for the first year.

Hey all. Been a wild couple of weeks. This week was a bit slow as we actually ran out of trailers in the fleet. Good thing about that is that I got paid good to move trailers from one place to another. Fewer loads, but that shagging more than made up for it, so it became a good money week.
Did a PM2 in Portland Indiana, got rested that night, and drove hard again until this morning when I got home.
Lets see, saw a USA on its side in Michigan, a Knight on fire in Illinois, and two independents ran into each other on 80/90 in Indiana in a construction zone. Don't know how many trucks I saw pulled over in Ohio. They must have been doing some extra enforcement on trucks for the week. I got a state bear looking my truck over as he passed me real slowly on 65. I just smiled and tipped my cap and rolled along. He nodded back and accelerated away. It was probably him who pulled a truck over a few miles later down the road. lol
Got pulled into a scale in MI on 94 and scaled good but was pulled aside by voice and looked over informally. No papers or such, the guy said he just wanted to check tires and brakes and I was rolling again in ten minutes. Weird, and I don't think really legal, is it? I mean, if he did a real inspection, that's one thing, but just looking my truck over and not filing any papers? Not that I care, since I was back on the highway in short order.
No bad trailer tires lately. Some are getting worn, but no cupping or damaged ones at least.
Been told next week will be insanely busy. Thanksgiving restocks for Kraft products this time of year is insane apparently. My usual load to Indy on Monday is usually about 21K lbs, but this time its 36K. Geeze.
Well, hope everyone is doing well. Glad to see some problems were worked out down in Dallas for the better and the usually craziness still goes on out there on OTR scheduling.
I'm always cheerleading Stevens when someone new asks, so I won't this time, except to say I'm still happy with them and I'm enjoying what I'm doing and where I'm doing it.
Oh yea, last weekend I had to reset in Chicago, so I called a couple friends from high school and we went to some old hangouts and bs'd a while on Saturday night before we ended up playing poker all night.
This weekend I'm doing some housework for my aunt and uncle who are in their nineties now. They need the house set up for winter weather and such. So tomorrow it's ham and beans and cornbread for supper! WOOOO! Lots of hot sauce in mine!
Well, out for now. Going to spread out on the bed and take up the whole freaking thing for the next, oh, twelve hours or so. lol
Keep it upright and between the lines!

Got my delivery in McKinney, then sent to Broken Bow for a meat load to NJ and a monday AM Delivery. Got loaded fairly quickly (live load) but ###### if I could get that thing balanced. Finally after running out of holes and positions, we reloaded it, then back thru the scales a gajillion times. Good thing they have their own scale. One axle at a time. Finally figured their scale was not accurate to do one axle weighs. Totals were fine, but after I suspected their scale, I went over three times without changing anything. Steer came up 12,320, 11,870 and 12,140. Drives changed too.
Ran out of hours, so I sat there, got a nap. Got a call from meat dept. "get running. the vultures are circling. Others want that load."
Got out of there at 2200, but with the crazy hours these last two days, I stopped in Arkansas at 0300. Woke up this morning and found the 'parking' lot I was parked in (with four other trucks) is a plowed under corn field next to the TS asphalt.
    Oh, well!
I'm laying low and turning off my phone. Plenty of time to make the run, but I don't want to argue with them.

Got to love those late night parking spots...good thing it was not raining in Arkansas, or you might of sunk up to the engine. :biggrin_25521: Spent the night at a ma and pa TS just in Missouri last night...raining cat and dogs...gravel parking lot, watched the water flow. I have been known to not answer my phone when meat keeps calling too.
As for my adventures with stevens, read the thread http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...97757-stevens-transport-a-year-in-review.html, it details my weekly adventures, good and bad.

Sitting in Colbert OK tonight...headed to laredo.

My miles have been good lately. WGCarver is mr carver, he lives in Michigan.
