I guess I got lucky. My DM has 15 years OTR driving experience. He sets me up for loads, I make them happen. We're both happy with the other's performance.

maybe i need to get a new DM, cause every other weekend, i find myself sitting for a day and a half, and its starting to p!zz me off.

 

After orientation you might get a mentor like I had that played video games while you are in the sleeper and get drunk and keep you awake while he runs over rumble strips on the interstate. This is Swifts finest!!!!!!

 

Well, I had a decent mentor. Aside from him dealing with family stuff back in Senegal while he was supposed to be sleeping, he did his share of driving and was pretty smooth in his maneuvers. He showed me how to make money while balancing the company party line.

But I still had a lot to learn after I got off his truck. Six weeks is not enough time to show you everything. Heck, three years is not enough time. I still don't know everything.

When you are locked up in a space the size of your average bathroom 24/7 for six weeks, you WILL get annoyed with that person regardless of how good a guy or gal they are. All you have to do is keep your goals in front of you.

And if your mentor is drinking excessively and it's affecting your safety and his work, GET OFF THAT TRUCK!!!
