Are there any MCT drivers out there with some helpful advice?
I'm finding out that grain haulin' isn't payin' the bills. I'm a month and a half out of a community college CDL course and as of right now, I'm not going to see any more loads until December when contracts are due. I'm wondering about MCT.
I know of a driver here that works for MCT and his father-in-law said he's quite happy with them. Do they hire drivers right out of CDL courses with little experience and what would it involve getting started with them? Would I get put with a trainer or would I have to attend a school?
Thanks,
Buzz

You would have to call them and find out. They do have their own driving school but I'm thinking they would put you with a trainer for a few weeks and let you go on your own. They are a 100% owner operator company so if you don't own your own truck they would have you drive for one of their small fleet owners.
Buzzard Thanks this. -
Thanks for the reply, Dryver!
That's great to hear! I'm trying to talk the wife into the idea of me goin' OTR since most companies don't consider grain haulin' "real" experience.
Can anyone tell me the regions they service of are they nationwide? I read their home page and it says they started out haulin' west.
Do they use DAC and if they do - are they truthful and fair in their reports?
Thanks,

Driving for a small fleer

I did not get along with my fleet owner Wood Trucking but I did come to respect MCT.
Midwest Coast wants to run safe and legit on the logs and they mean it. If you have any problems they're eager to talk to you and answer your questions. I felt they had a true open door policy. -
MCT has a good reputation, I was in there a few days ago and they are looking for O/Os to sign on. If you are Jonny Hot Shot with a 25 hour log book you won't fit in.

Do their recruiters hook you up with a small fleet or did you find one on your own? Also what are their primary running lanes or are they all 48?
-
I called and Sharon the recruiter asked when what state I live in and she gave me a couple on #'s to o/o's that were hiring. They do run all 48 states but i wont be doing the northeast unless i wanna go home because I live in Pittsburgh,PA.
