I was looking for this as well. They seem to be a car hauling company. Too bad I wasn't able to find any threads, except this one and there were no responses to this one. Perhaps this could change in the next few days......:biggrin_25511:

Yep, URS is an auto transport company. I don't have any experience with them aside from loading next to them and talking to some of their drivers, but, beyond that, I don't have much to offer.

Be careful with auto hauling companies . The largest ones have filed bankruptcy and the freight is declining .

I use to haul cars for United Road Services, they are headquartered out Of Romulus, MI near Detroit. I was hired out of the Billings, MT office that has since closed this location. They are prety focused on hiring newbies, paying low wages with old equipment. IF you stick around long enough they do have SOME nice equipment and pay CAN get slightly better. Thier Western division runs out of Vancouver, WA and they haul some new cars but a lot of used auction freight, as does most of the company does. There is a lot of competition including Cassens, Wagoneers, PMT, Hadleys just to name a few, just do some google searches. As mentioned by other member(s) the auto industry is hurting pretty bad right now, definitely not the best time to make a move but best wishes. PM me if you want to talk.

Another car hauler told me he thought United was a good company. I tried talking to their recruiter though and they seemed to know nothing about their own company and just kept refering me to the website and said my questions would be answered after I applied and got an interview.

I was just trying to find out more about their trucks and they couldn't tell me. So I'm not sure what to think.

What are you trying to find out about them? I have been leased to URS for 7 years and have been good to me. What about the trucks?

I know of them used to load next to some of their drivers, but what I've gathered they were hauling same freight I hauled for anywhere from 20% cheaper or more.
Considered giving them a try, but left messages for recruiters few times answering ads, but no one would call me back?!
I know they bought out bunch of auto transport outfits, I guess to eliminate the competition and have bigger share of the market like many others, but their rates seem to be low, any insight would be helpful, good day.

Yes they did buy some companies but that many years ago. The rates are average for the industry today. Some yards and freight here pays better than others. The big problem now is more work than they have trucks/drivers for. Like I stated before I have been leased here for 7 years and make a descent living at it. To be honest car hauling as a hole isn't keeping up with the times though. Rates for all of it should be higher for all the companies. I started doing this in 95 and alot of it pays the same as it did then if not less. That's not just URS either because I have friends leased to other companies and they aren't doing any better if as good as I am.
