the more you take in an advance, the less you will have on payday, very easy to get yourself in a DEEEEEEEEP hole this way. You need to figure out something else.

you need to ask them as someone in the office would most certainly know more than we would. ask your driver manager or whatever he/she is called.
as stated, be careful of advances as come payday, you will NOT get much since they will subtract what they advance you. try and live on a minimum of $100 for the week, and buy ONLY FOOD, not cb radio, or anything else. well except for maybe a truckers road atlas, ON SALE....starvingspider Thanks this. -
Buy only food! Not even that map until close to time to get your truck! Food is more important than a map until it's needed! The trainer has one so use his.

yes this is true, but i'm thinking when he get's "cut loose" to be on his own, he'll need a map ASAP......as long as he shops around a rand mc nally truckers atlas can be had for around $30 (paper edition, not laminated). best to have his own as soon as he can get one.starvingspider Thanks this.

Buy self contained, water added asian noodles..kind of like ramen noodles..If you can make ramen noodles on board then even better. There are many other food options you can buy on the road thats real cheap also.

I have Qualcomm, so I probably will not need an atlas.

Qualcomm doesn't show you where to go, it only gives the route. Example, I-81N, I-66W, I-495N. If you know where that is without a map, then you're a pretty good geography oriented person, but a map will help you better. Your trainer should have one, so use his/hers until you get your own truck.
As others have stated, buy only food. See if you can hit a Walmart, Miejer, etc. and stock up. Fast food will cost you way more than some can food will in a week. Buy some bowls and spoons/forks and use the microwave in the truck stop if your trainer doesn't have one. Sure it'll be bland and can get rather tasteless, but spending $30 over a $100 a week on a very slim budget is better than digging yourself into a hole.
