I drove for J.B. Hunt doing southeast regional. I would never go back to JB doing regional or OTR. If I had a job offer from them on a dedicated acct or intermodal I would definitely take it. All the intermodal driver I ever talked to were happy but I could never get on doing that b/c there was a waiting list on that or they only hired at the beginning of the year.

Cleaned out my truck and turned it in at East Brunswick. Start in Intermodal Tuesday.

Don't know the load planners' names. We never receive messages from the planners and the FM's never reference the planners by name so I don't know how any driver would know.

    Thanks Wizard.

Just finished my 2nd week of intermodal out of Middletown (Harrisburg) PA.

Quite a contrast from PPG. I feel like I'm getting my rear run off of me. Definitely no sitting and the only waiting would be in the rare case of a live load or live unload. About 90% of the loads are drop and hook. Typically I have 2-3 load plans on me when I arrive. These plans will keep me busy for about 7-10 hours. If I'm making good time and want more work I just send a message that I want another plan. They usually find a short run or two to fill out my day. And if not I can always run empties or chassis' back to the railyards for some extra accessorial pay.

I'm definitely working harder now than I have for a long while. There is more work if you want to volunteer to work a 6th day but so far I've been pretty exhausted and need the two day weekend to recharge. Been grossing around $850-900/week working M-F and home every night. If I volunteered to work Saturdays I'd be around $1025 or so a week but for now I'd rather find trouble elsewhere on the weekends.

As a side note, I gotta say I'm liking the Cascadia daycabs. Real comfortable seats, beefy steering wheel, maneuvers well in tight spaces, very quiet cabin and a real nice stereo.

roadkill: Good to see you switch. When I was behind the desk, I looked at all these jobs come up on a screen.

There's a good chance I know the "Nathan" you speak of on PPG (I used to work with him in recruiting, he's a short little mexican ****** who probably wets his bed at night)

I can't remember his name from when I was there but we always knew who he was. But maybe something happened and they decided to change that to. A couple of FM were threatened so maybe he was to and they were doing this to protect him or her.

When I was at Target we had a handful of "load planners" that I knew by name who worked out of the Corporate offices in Lowell.

There may be some accounts that have a "load planner" that works in the onsite office of an account such as Home Depot or Family Dollar out of Winchester, Va.

In Lowell they are actually called marketing reps or account reps...not necessarily load planners. Anyway, that's just my two cents worth!

If you go to jb hunt i guarentee you will fail. Not because you're a bad driver but for the s:biggrin_25513:imple fact that the drivers are at the bottom of the barrel in that bottom feeder company!
