only problem cling that time as unemployed is that a lot of companies would then not hire you.... companies view large gaps in employment as a show of character and a huge risk for them to take on. -
I worked for A&m for four years. they never requested a DAC report nor are they on my DAC report as a employer. Not all companys use DAC.. thank God
-
All companies employing drivers are required to check past driving employers, you give permission when you fill out an app. They are not required to check with DAC (USIS). And the companies are required by law to answer.
psanderson Thanks this. -
I'm in a similar situation as the driver who started this thread except that I have twice the months experience. One supposed "accident" was an 800 number call by another truck driver claiming that I hit him, but after a month the guy hadn't submitted any photos of damage to his truck or anything to substantiate his claim. There was no police report, and my company hadn't paid out any money or done anything except keep a record of the phone call. I refuse to call this an "accident" because there was no contact on my trailer or anything remotely resembling damage, no police report, and no substantiation other than a random phone call. Don't worry about it I was told. Then, two months later, during an ice storm on I-71 in KY, a guy clips me from behind at about 10mph. I watched it happen in my mirror. The other trucker was an idiot. The guy doggly tries to pass me on the median but runs out of realestate as the median slopes down into a drain. So then he pulls back into the lane, but grazes the last 10 feet of my trailer, folding his fender mirror out of adjustment, and putting a slight dent mark along my trailer. It's 12pm, no lights, shoulders loaded with snow and ice, traffic racing around us, and I'm trying to figure out how to safely pull over, then the officers pull me over with their lights. The officer slips and skates into the lane to reach the driver's door, angry at me. I'm citied for "fleeing an accident scene" and officer's orders me to stay away from the other driver or his truck--so I can't collect any data. To make a long story short, my company, which had just given me a raise in pay, has me drive two more loads back to Denver terminal then has me empty my tractor of my belongings, but doesn't provide any documention or specifics as to why I'm terminated. Except that office lady is flipped out now. Two months after the first "accident", a "mark" was found on the trailer in a bogus substantiation of the first incident. After I got home, I was able to collect unemployment though, so I wasn't fired for cause. Two months pass, and my KY attorney gets the citation dismissed--saving my CDL--, and the officer's report still can't be found on-line like I was informed the night of the citation. Strange thing is, the company isn't on my DAC yet--three months after termination, but they did do a DAC search the day after the KY accident--they found nothing--my DAC is totally clean. I busted my butt for these guys, driving through blizzards and ice storms, always delivering on-time, saving an account here or there because of load planning errors, and getting put on the Ace list for compliance--only to lose it all because some a-hole thinks he needs to pass me real bad, and because office workers suddenly concludes without adequate rationale that I'm a risky driver. I'm still waiting to see what the company puts on the DAC, if anything because the company won't return my phone calls. It's a brain dead business when the companies are this large, I suppose. But, then again, I figure the real reason they wanted me terminated is because my wage was slightly higher than the newer guy, and because I was able to explain in clear terms the payroll mistakes they made almost every week.

Who are the ones who don't use DAC to hire??
-
Most local companies and O/O's do not use DAC, to the best of my knowledge and experiences with them. They go more with credit and background checks.
Yes, a even bad credit report can cost you a loss of employment these days.
My. 02 cents. -
I just ordered my DAC for the first time. I have driven for 5 different companies in 14 years and my DAC is completely empty or clean I should say.
Clean DAC is a good DAC right? -
All they have to do is tell them that you worked there and perhaps the dates they worked and stopped working.
