Do you honk at kids?

I was the same way when I was younger... Waiting for the bus, trying to hear the horns go by. So with that said, absolutely... As long as the kid isnt bein a jack ### about it, showing off or something. And Being 22 I see a lot of college girls headed to school in the fall and home in the spring, they always want me to blow the horn. I think it kinda surprises them to see someone my age driving a truck.

 

I remember as a kid getting all the trucks to honk at us as we went down the road. That was before window tint though. I don't think that you could see my kids in the back of my truck or the wifes Expedition. lol

 

I start my over the road training either tomorrow or Monday so I havn't had the pleasure yet. But I deffinately will when I see some kiddos on the road. I have fond memories of making the "honk your horn" motion at truckers while traveling to North Carolina from Texas with my folks as a kid.

 

I never knew that dead birds could fly!!!!!

 

Those kids are scared for life after that ya know.... FOREVER

 

when i first started driving i used to on occassions but the longer i drive the less i seem to do it. i just don't want to scare an unsuspecting driver out the an cause them to lose control of there vehicle and wreck.

 

WOW....I always wonder where birds went to die!

 

If there's not a lot of other traffic around to be scared by a sudden blast of airhorn, I do it for the kids. I can remember the days when almost all the truckers would do it, and I remember how much fun it was when you heard that horn go off. As long as I am sure nobody's gonna have a heart attack and run off the road when I pull the cord, I give em a little blast. It's those great big smiles that come after that get me every time!

 

Sure, did that yesterday, for a group of city kids on an overpass.

 

I used to but we ran teams and thats how you woke your partner and I got so used to someone in a sleeper I didnt do it anymore. Hey Darby, Your turn!! Karl
