My best week there was about 2400, average 1800.Each drivers miles are posted in the break room, average out of all drivers is about 2000.No freight lots of waiting.but they'll put you in a nice 06 freightliner with 600,000 that wont pass a d.o.t inspection, dont expect them to fix anything.

    Time for another update.

I'm finally home for a few days. It feels nice after five weeks away, four of them on the road. Although sadly, I'm already looking forward to getting back out there. The green grass syndrome I guess. When you're out, you want to get home; when you're home, you want out. Don't dogs have that same problem with doors? But I digress

Four weeks in the same truck with another guy wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. We got along really well and having the weekends off helped break it up. The time actually flew by pretty quickly. Mostly I think because it's hard to keep track of what day it is when you go to bed and wake up at a different time every day.

Time will tell, but overall I think I've made a good choice going with flatbed and while I don't see myself making a career here, this seems to be a good company to work for. I say time will tell as I currently have no experience with the "fun" part of flatbedding, ie, frozen tarps, frozen me, winter in general, windy conditions, anal alcoa plants and so forth. Luckily though, it seems we don't haul just a massive amount of freight that requires tarping. Maybe that's the norm, I don't know yet. In my four weeks, we tarped five loads if I remember correctly.
I got to tangle with my first one right out of the gate yesterday. And being that it was a thomas and betts load, not only did I have to tarp it, I first had to take their tarps off and roll them up. What a blasty blast. It was definately easier with two people lol

I'm pretty happy with my truck. I was assigned one yesterday and it's an 08 with less than 300k on it. And it has a bunk heater which is an added plus I was not expecting. Being as it's on the new end of their freight shakers, I should get to keep it for awhile. They're phasing out the older trucks and rolling the fleet over to prostars and macks. Mostly macks though and those puppies are sweet. Well, except for the electonic logs part but I guess that's coming for everybody eventually.

That's all of my random ramblings for now. Heading out Sunday to deliver in Austin. If you have any questions, ask and I'll report semi-regularly on how I'm doing and how Builders is doing

Congrats man. Glad to hear you got through training with out a problem. Your lucky to have a bunk heater! I have an 05 and I dont even like to idle it at night cause the thing rattles to dang much. Shouldnt be much longer till they get rid of my truck. Im not looking forward to electronic logging either, but I sure do like those new macks. Anyways, be safe out there driver.
