Dear Colleagues in USA! I would like to introduce myself, I am Thomas (38), I live in Germany and I am a truck driver. I drive a Volvo truck across Europe. I love this job and would in the near future in the U.S. live and start my own transport company. So if anyone has good tips for me, I would look forward to.
Sorry for my English, that's not so good, but I study hard;)

    Regards Thomas

Halo, Thomas, I am from Germany too, but live in U.S.A. My mother lives in Worth am Maine, near Frankfort. I vacation in Europe every year and I think it would be nice to drive around Europe. How are you planning on coming to America and do you have friends or family here? Are you practicing your english often? Do you want to drive a different truck here in America?

Hello ludialonghaul, since 1995 I'm driving through Europe, but it makes no fun anymore, the industry is facing a very serious crisis. The laws make it impossible to earn good money. after the enlargement of Europe, Russia and Poland entered the market and prices have destroyed, I've given up my business last year because I could not drive profitable. I had the idea to go to America and then to live my dream, I was so far 2 times in Florida and 2 times in Houston TX, because I like it very well and I've got a boyfriend. Where I go I will not know exactly, I still have to collect much information. I want to go big in a good solvent and carrier as Owner Operator, a good friend of mine will come and we want to drive as a team. Wörth am Main I know, is about 250 miles from my residence. Volvo is my absolute favorite, I would like to continue to drive in U.S.. Since I have a green card, I will establish a company and thus apply for an E2 visa (investors visa). I get a permission for 5 years, then will be checked and you get a permanent permission.
What do you drive for trucks? Are you going regional or long distance?

    best regards Thomas

Thomas, I drive long distance and I have a Kenworth t660. In America, sometimes it is hard for people to make a good living, it is the same as in Europe, the laws are very tough and make it hard for drivers. Wages are low here too. You have to work very hard here. How many hours per day can you drive in Europe? In America you can drive 11 hours per day. Driving as teams, I think is a good idea, you don't have to worry about 10 hour breaks. How long do you have to break in Europe before you can drive again? The truck stops in Germany are much nicer and cleaner than here in America. I think Florida and Texas are very nice places to live in. Go for it!!!
