    Did anyone mention:
    A free steak dinner with/on:
    your birthday
    oil changes
    major repair bills
    free door prizes
free coffee when you filled up instead of having to swipe a freaking card to use points. Wasn't that a Flying J start up when they started to use those stupid tear apart pieces of paper off the fuel receipts?

News Flash.... for all you old guys...

I talked with a tater hauler the other day and he mentioned that Rube, yes THAT Rube, from the Jersey Truck Stop is alive and well... 86 years old.

He has a place across from the t-stop he made famous and is still brokering freight and has a small bullding with a dock or two...

Amazing... I thought he had passed on years ago.

I forgot one. Does anybody remember the old 903 cummins? That was a pretty decent motor back then.

Ya I remember them we called the 90 nothings lol. I think the 318 were better V8's than the 903's.

How about Key Stop Truck Stops in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana? They were owned by the governor of TN IIRC...

For those that might remember the Shenandoah Inn in Old
Washington, OH. It is now a pile of rubble. Not sure what's going to replace it, but a refurbish is sure out of the question now! :biggrin_2556:

I figured he was dead by now. The IRS took its toll on him.....
I spent many a night there over the years watching the wharf rats scurry about.

What about the "permit agencies" that were in many of the major truckstops? The company I drove for didn't go out west very often, so if we were going to go thru a state we didn't have a fuel permit sticker on the truck for, we would stop at an agency and buy a "trip permit" that would give us from 3-10 days (depending on the state) to pass thru and do your business.
