I want to know if there ar any laws and regulations requiring shippers and receivers to offer equal access to their restrooms. I went to a shipper in Champaigne , Il and was staring at 2 restrooms right in front of me. Both had signs that said employees only and had padloccks on the doors. When I inquired as to a restroom I was told to go to the restroom ath the gas station down the road on the corner. I emailed the city manager and asked if there were any ordnances requiring facilities. He did not respond I did the same in Lacombe , La at bout the Smuckers - Folgers facility. The Parish leader at least responded and informed me that he would contact them. My qualcom said "No facilities and no restrooms for driver"" Prisoners are resquired to have restroom and so are illegal aliens waiting to be deported. I beleive that it is both discriminating and disrespectful
No restrooms for drivers

There are no laws requiring it. -
Unbeliveably enough something similar to this happened to me the other day. I was in a Thermo King of all places. Restroom right in front of me with a sign saying employees only. I asked permission to use the bath room, and I was told: "go out to the service bay take a right go up the stairs take a left blah blah blah"
I then pointed to the restroom 4' from where I was standing and asked why I couldn't just use that one. One of the secretaries spoke up (great big nasty fat one) and said she was tired of truckers messing it up. Right then and there I asked to see the manager. He comes out, and I wave the $1200 repair estimate in front of his nose. Told him if I wasn't good enough to use that toilet then he wasn't good enough to work on my trailer.
Two seconds later that sign was removed from the restroom...
I have ZERO problems crawling up the cat walk of my truck and taking a crap on the parking lot of a receiver that wont let me use their restroom. Its the least I can do...
BTW, before any of you get the idea I am some nasty person. I always leave a restroom cleaner than I found it. I regularly pick up trash from the floor and wipe counters down after I am done.x1Heavy, Friday, scottied67 and 5 others Thank this. -
just wait till its dark spread cheek in the parking lot and letter rip bahahhahahahah save your urine bottle and dump it in their lot bet eventually they will start letting people use the restrooms......

If you have a "public restroom", it has to be open and accessible for all, including handicapped and usually has to be inspected. It can be a real pain.
TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -
OSHA requires each employer to have a toilet at every job site. The problem is they have bathrooms for their employees which we are not.

There may not be any regulations, but business ethics should cover the carrier's personnel. After all, the Bill of Lading is a contract between the shipper, carrier, and receiver. We are all in this to make a profit. The driver is an agent of the carrier and is equal to any other employee trying to make a profit for all three parties to the Bill of Lading.
In actual practice, ethics be ######. Everyone looks out only for their own profit. Several statements of ethics have been adopted by trade organizations. Only a few companies adhere to them.
