Here are the facts, as I understand them.

You have an old, plain truck, that may or may now be roadworthy.
You have zero experience with trucks and trucking.
Tags, you need 1200.00 to 1500.00 to buy those.
You don't know what it takes to make the truck legal to drive.
You are depending on a driver to show you how to operate a truck and run the business, while you ride along. No driver that knows anything about trucking will agree to this.
You would probaly be trying to pay this driver with a 1099, which is illegal.
You have no money to pay the driver, fill the tanks, get the truck ready, and pay for the repairs that will come on a regular basis.

You will end up with a broken truck, deep in dept, and less than you have now.

    Sell it.

Yup, sell the truck to some local flatbedder, construction co, or somebody who pulls sea containers.

Putting a 1999 truck to work is not a problem.... not having any experience will mean you are doomed to failure.

I have some book knowledge as to what are the requirements- dealing with CSA-IFTA-USdot-MC-No 1099 hire employee -workmans comp-base plates-permits-Vin stickers for states-weight stations--

I have start up working capital and working on the business plan.

I was the Director Of Opps for a huge water sports company and manage a fleet of 24 boats ranging from 18-42 feet, 15 jetskis-- 13 employees with over 1.7 million in rev annually-

Want to talk about things breaking down---boats suck

At the end this board is also another resource that I plan on using to help with the learning process.

If I fail--Atleast I tried----- In your opinion--- other then working for someone esle---- What would be the best way to enter the market

Sell the #### truck and walk away.....

Guys like you are the reason why brokers think it's ok to pass tarped lumber loads with 3 picks and 3 drops drops for a buck a mile.....

You should have given all the details at the beginning. It read like you had no business experience, had not researched, and had no money.

Ok.....You know watercraft....I grew up around boats....'
We both know that boats are nothing but friggin' "Holes in the water".....
Trucks are "Holes in the road".....Even a new rig will still cost you.....

Besides the usual fixed costs.......There are always the "surprises" especially with an older rig....

The best way to enter the market is to do what most of us did....
Get a job working for a carrier or a contractor.......Work your way up....

You want to start from the top....That's like going to Donald Trump and telling him you want his job......:biggrin_25523:
