I get past I-29 It recalculates for me to continue on I-80 to I-35 and saves me 45 minutes driving time
The tnd700 is set to fastest route...

but not while i am driving...

 

Yep, only works when you are not moving and once you move it will go back to your actual location.

I'm up in Calgary, AB, and all of the PetroCanada truck stops have been removed from the POI DB. Dunno if someone clicked the wrong box, but I have not been able to get it to recogognize any of them in BC or AB even when sitting in the truck parking. Not sure about further east.

 

A few thoughts:

-When the "reduced speed ahead" warning comes up, why not tell us what the new speed will be? No idea if it's 65 going to 55 or 30.

- I think the first map update should definitely be free, the maps are pretty dated on the current unit. Some mapping in Canada is at least 10 years old, maybe closer to 15.

 

Thanks Mark for the better clarification on the issue. Next question: are we having to pay for the new map updates??

 

If the latest update was supposed to fix the time zone glitch, then chalk that up to one epic fail. This past weekend I passed from Central to Eastern. The TND did correctly notify me of the zone change, but FAILED to make the change to the clock. As a result, my destination ETA was off by one hour. Furthermore, whereas the unit would previously discover it's mistake and correct itself within a few minutes, it now is incapable of making the change until rebooted. Did anybody bother testing the fix before releasing it? I mean like get in a vehicle and actually cross time zones to see if it works?

 

Don't feel bad guys, my TND 700 has a map glitch. I'll be driving across Pa on the turnpike or even I80 and my map will totally dissapear and it looks like i'm driving in outerspace for a few seconds and then comes back on. Mark was suppose to send me a fix for it but i haven't recieved it yet, by the way i named my TND "STUPID". LOL.
