No one ever says how long it takes to make up the losses from the initial purchase and from any damage. Assuming you would ever see any actual measurable fuel mileage improvement. Like if you tear a trailer skirt off you're probably at a total loss for the year.

guys who sell boat tails recomend drivers to ride smoothly, and slow down to 55-60 to reduse tail wear... Ha Ha! I'm not surprized with 10-15% fuel savings!

I bet if you added trailer skirts and air tabs you could get .000056 more MPG in the woods.:biggrin_25522:
I mean if the Pelletier family only knew the benefits of an aerodynamic tractor, skirts, tabs, and a trailer tail (i guess 3 in this case) their fuel mileage would be in the double digits!:biggrin_2559:

Don't be an idiot. You must build a frame in the rear for the "tail" and I'd stick the tabs on whatever your hauling. You might get by without the skirts.:biggrin_25522::biggrin_2559:

I am familiar with the Smart Truck design. And, while I can smile at the pithy posts here, the fact is that designs of this nature work. The biggest drawback for fleets is that tractors aren't normally dedicated to a specific trailer. O/Os are different. How long to payback a $4,000 cost at 7-10% fuel savings?

Problem is, BS designs like this bring 7% fuel savings only on a designer's desk and NEVER in real world driving. Since this kinda $itt is always pricey - buyers always get screwed. But they feel good anyway, and I like it too when my competition sends money fast..... Thay cant afford undercutting my rates then :biggrin_2559:

So, its all good in my book. It just sad to see how stupid people became to believe in lies and disregard the truth

    orion3814 and Jfaulk99 Thank this.
