Have all of your trucking industry questions answered by a 1-2 year OTR seasoned SWIFT trainer. If he or she can't answer all of your questions then go to the top of the chain and ask a SWIFT ACADEMY graduate fresh from the "academy". SWIFT academy drivers are well versed in everything trucking.

I recall a few years ago the FBI, DOT and the Tennessee State Police raided a SWIFT academy in TN and closed the whole operation down. It saddens me to think about all of the wasted talent that we will never get to see on the highway, all those super truckers without CDL licenses.

You don't want to believe anything about Swift that could be negative. I know I know, you're probably getting a ton of great loads and being treated really well, but your experience is not the case for most swift employees.

Swift is a known bottom feeder company. Most posts on this forum about swift are negative.

A year ago today, federal agents swarmed the Swift Driving Academy in Millington and Swift's trucking terminal in Memphis.
Today, the federal terrorism task force led by the FBI is long gone.
A grand jury met, but indictments never came and federal authorities never revealed what they suspected.
Meanwhile, Swift keeps on trucking.
The company continues to teach students how to drive big rigs on a swath of concrete that used to be a runway and taxiway adjacent to Millington Regional Jetport.
On Tuesday, the site had several dozen trucks and traffic cones around which students were taught to maneuver.
Still, whatever happened a year ago had consequences. For one thing, the Tennessee Department of Safety eliminated its partnership with Swift.
Until a year ago, the state had allowed the driving academy to do two things that made it easier for Swift students to obtain commercial driver licenses: be the only business in the state to host a Tennessee commercial driver-license testing center and have Swift employees trained and certified to conduct road tests of students on behalf of the state.
The Department of Safety has since eliminated both those privileges.
The state also ended the practice of giving Swift's students motel residency.
Thousands of students came from across the nation and stayed for Swift's three-week course at the Millington's Admiralty Suites & Inn, which dedicated dozens of rooms for Swift students.
For the purposes of quickly obtaining a Tennessee commercial driving license they could use anywhere in the nation, students listed the motel's address on U.S. 51 as their residence.
Now, students must return to their true residences in their home states for license application and testing after receiving training in Millington.
Before the raid, the Admiralty housed 200-400 students at any given time. Now, it's half that number, general manager Rex Lovell said."

I have a four letter word between my legs, but it's not of the female persuasion and I would have to be fired from my job at Swift before I quit.

 

Operative words: "indictments never came"

Must be a terrible disappointment to those who hate Swift so much, whether they know why they hate it or not.

The fact is, Swift did not exercise due diligence in selecting candidates for CDL training. They ended up with an inordinate number of disqualified CDL holders due to falsified documents that were presented by those former students. The Feds told Swift what paperwork they needed, Swift requested a warrant, the warrant was obtained and all requested paperwork was handed over. There was no "swarming" like some kind of raid. Nobody would have even known the Feds were there except that they were announced....by Swift. They walked in, handed the warrant to tthe lawyer, picked up a bunch of boxes and left. The whole transaction took less than an hour.

The school was shut down, but not by the Feds. Swift shut it down and cleaned house regarding staff. A lot of people got fired that day. Now, according to some of these Swift haters, they aren't the dirtbags running a shoddy program, they are heroes. They escaped Swift, so now, regardless of their inability to perform the simple task of running background checks, they are poster children for how awful Swift treats its employees.

Yep, Swift screwed this one up. By not policing that section very well. Interesting we have to go back three years to actually find something. Not that I didn't know about it. Thing is, the problem was corrected and that Millington school is in operation today.

I'm not even going to waste band width on the beginning paragraph. It's not worth consideration.
