ARE YOU SERIOUS? Do you have any idea what those non-driving occupations make? Except for pilots that stay in very nice hotels when away from home for a day or two none of those occupations spend hardly any time from home and have a much better image in the eyes of the public.

But why as a student driver you seem to know so much about trucking you can come here and tell experienced drivers about it. Thats some kind of arrogance. Statistics show that most entry drivers do not last a year in trucking, but since you have been pumped-up with fairy tales by a SWIFT trainer you will no doubt be the one that makes the "the right decisions" and will be trucking for low pay and reduced benefits (if any at all) till retirement age, LOL.

Many trucking companies advertise $30,000-$45,000 in first year wages. What they don't tell you is how many miles you have to drive illegally to get it! They also forget to tell you that you will probably never be home. But since you are a student you already know all of that I'm sure.

I guess the prices and taxes in Colorado are so cheap that you can afford to live on low pay and reduced benefits but most of us can't.

If you are comfortable working for a lot less money and benefits than truckers 10-15-20 years ago did then have at it. Student entry level drivers working for scratch is one of the reasons trucking companies will never improve driver pay and conditions. If you are just looking for room & board welcome to your new home...ENJOY THE ROLLING SWEATSHOP!

I noted that those are the top ten most dangerious professions. And well, I just dont have the time, or paitence to respond more to your clear tyrade about what you think I do, or do not know. So much so that I did not even read your whole post, as its clearly just another 'you know nothing' type post. Enjoy your life sir. :)

CNBC sez that NYC Refuse collectors make $75k TO START.

    Crap pay? I think not!
    Hard work? Yes.

Many of those trades (especially in the western states) have been filled with *em* uh, undocumented workers...
They kinda brought the wage down....
I know, I worked in industrial construction to no avail. I don't want the risk for the $8.00 an hour to start job.
Truck driving, for all it's faults was way less stress, and physical risk. I rolled with the punches and make good middle class money.
