Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

One of my employers had an applicant who tested positive for MJ. They told him to re-test in 30 days assuming that he would be clean by then. He flunked again and said he may have inhaled secondary smoke. Whatever.
Many non-driving jobs require a pre-employment drug test these days. Hundreds of applicants show up when a factory announces they will hire 20 workers. Hundreds of applicants test positive. I am hauling scrap paper from a magazine printer that has posted notice of random drug testing of employees. This is a unionized, skilled-trade environment. -
So, is this your complaint against Star (nashville) that they dropped you from orientation because of a positive drug test? Reading between the lines of your various posts, that seems to be what you have against them. I find it hard to fault the company when the driver candidate was well aware of the need not to be recently stoned on arrival.
Give it a couple of years and try again in 2010 or so if you can refrain from drug use in the meantime. And companies don't buy into the secondhand smoke claims because it still implies that you are inviolved with people who use illegal drugs.
By the way, if you are coming back to driving after an 8 year absence, the rules on drug use have not changed in that time. it was unacceptable behavior then, and it still is. -
well first of all I dont smoke weed and 2nd I was found positive on a presciption that I was givin legaly by a dentist temporarilly and STAR was faxed a copy from my dentist and they did nothing about it, so yeah STAR SUCKS!!! and I stand by that! but thanks anyway burky, I am not done with this yet.

When taking a DRUG test, you still must identify any medications that were prescribed by any doctor.LooneyTune Thanks this.

oh look ANOTHER driver trying to blame everybody else except themselves. stop denying and accept your screw up and learn from it. to answer your question on how long well it doesn't really matter what i say cause you'll forget it anyways and do what you want. i'm glad they caught you cause there is no room for any impaired driver out on the road behind a 80,000 lb vehicle. as i score it : Star 1 , you 0.......

Tyler, TX a dry county. Not sure if I would ever use street drugs again, guess it's the 25+ years of experience...

Seems like a lot of employers ask some of the same questions, like "HAVE YOU EVER ABANDONED EQUIPTMENT?" or "HAVE YOU EVER REFUSED OR FAILED A DRUG SCREEN?"
Pre-hire and random drug screens I can understand, but I don't understand the logic of how Star does the random alcohol breathalizers.
More than once I've been called into the saftey dept and told, "Here's the keys to the company car: go DRIVE down to the clinic and take an alcohol breathalizer."
huh? Whatever. I'm stopping at Waffle House on the way back. -
well what happens if u fail the drug screen do u know of any companies that will hire you still
