Yeah, I wired in a 40 pin plug to the 70 pin harness on the truck side. I got wiring diagrams from a good friend of mine at the local Freightliner Dealership. He's the shop supervisor there and an extremely intelligent man. However, being the shop supervisor makes it very difficult to get ahold of him.
Like I said, I have had it wired in and it has been for a while now but, I cannot get this motor to run. It'll run with ether. I'm drawing and pushing fuel before and after the pump. I checked for signal at the injector harness and the injectors themselves and I get signal. I am at a loss here. I've marked and cut wires at the ecm from the truck to see if i had a wiring issue at the ecm. This has been a project going on three weeks now and I'm ready to set it on fire. Unfortunately my boss and the customer would not find the ease of mind that I would in doing so.
    I don't know what I'm missing here...

first of all be sure about power supply. battery power and ign. power.

if you ECM dont commuticate to Cat ET via 6-pin ore 9-pin connector look for small J1708 connector near the ECM and try to use probe cabels to connect adapter (RP1210 ore Cat) to ECM and read codes.

seems to me you have ign. wiring issues. Becouse if you connect other cabine-ECM wires engine may start, but idling only...

OUH! Is your vehicle with VECU? ore engine unit is directly controlled?

First and foremost, thank you to everyone for your support and input. I look forward to collaborating with you guys in the future.

Electronic engines can be quite difficult to diagnose without diagnostic equipment. I finally gave up on tracing wires knowing that I had connected them all correctly in the first place. Once I got all my wires reconnected I remembered I could check for flash codes with the cruise control switches. I recieved a flash code of 55 meaning there was nothing wrong. Diesels being quite simplistic once you get past the electronics led me to believe there was a fuel issue.

Let the hazing begin. :biggrin_25523: Dum roll please...
In the process of the motor swap I placed my fuel return line (to the tank) right off of the fuel supply line to the back of the head. :biggrin_25524:
Needless to say, once the return line was moved to its proper home the truck fired right up and purrs like a CAT.

I have mixed emotions about the whole thing. On one hand I feel like a total bonehead for letting something so simple elude me. On the other hand I'm on cloud nine cause I can finally get this truck out of the shop. Therefore, I will be celebrating my tail off tonite!!
    CHEERS!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I know of 2 different diesel pickup shops who have spent days diagnosing transmission issues on 2 different trucks after a trans rebuild and a clutch install. One completely tore the trans back apart trying to figure out why the truck wouldn't move, (thinking they had installed something wrong) and both of them only had accidentally knocked the transfer cases into neutral.:biggrin_2559:

if you go to shop where they say they have diagnostic equipment it doesn't mean there is a good technicion who can do something not usuall, like ECM ore engine swap.

I got the experience with engine/tranny/ecm swap and I can tell you it is not so easy deal.

anyway to do all you need a laptop with cat ET and RP1210 adapter.

When you'll start engine unit and when you start engine it is just a beging. some other buttons ic cbine, progarammable inputs/outputs and some other things... well, anyway you have no way out, you'll do this truck
