Although I agree with you IronPony, I must admit I was naive as to the actual process. They tell me to pee, and I pee. Lol
It wasn't until all this went down that I looked into the DOT guidelines, I guess I just never worried about it as I've said a million times....I gave up weed years ago. Really I had no reason to think about the collection process. Although I will admit since talking to my new company the other day and getting sent to LabCorp for a drug test, I was a bit nervous. But the girl was cool as hell, the process was completely professional (and I was in view of the specimen the entire time), and the most impostant part......She got all the pee at one time, instead of mixing it like it was a science experiment!!! So I had total peace leaving there and hope to be on the road in a second.

Ignorance is no excuse, but we can all tend to take the little things for granted until a situation like this arises and we're forced to gain more knowledge.

So I came into Sprimo to take a 10hr break.....
Art: Looks like you gotta take a whiz quiz.
Me: Really? I just had one last week in Pittston.
Art: Oh, they must have just forgot to have cleared it. Looks like it's been in the system for a couple months. If you still have the receipt they gave you I can clear it and we don't have to worry about it.
Me: Unfortunately I dropped that off when I went by the house a few days ago.
Art: Well, I usually tell people to hang onto that receipt for this exact situation. Looks like you'll have to take another one.
For Christ sake. I realize this was a simple oversight and in the grand scheme of things isn't a huge deal, but this is one area that I expect Prime to be 100% perfect at. I don't need any little oversights when it comes to drug testing. So two tests in two weeks for me. Hopefully they're satisfied!
One a side note though, everything was quick and easy with Art. In and out and he clearly knows the process....probably does it multiple times every night. Only thing that was weird is he didn't bother putting on gloves to handle my specimen, nor did he take the time to wash his hands afterwards.
The best part is when I get back out to my truck and they say "were you told about the random drug test inside?" ...That would have been useful information BEFORE I went inside and walked right past the bathroom...don't ya think?I always wait to go inside until they bring me up on the computer. He didn't mention a dang thing about it. Oye.

Did you shake hands Good -Bye, with Art ??
Nasty !!!!!!!!!!!! -
Anythig else you want to contribute to the thread?123456 Thanks this. -
LOL, that is nasty.
So I been back OTR for just over a week now, felt awesome and just so glad to be back!!!!
Mike you are right, companies like Prime need to be 100% ALL the time in such areas of importance, there is no grey areas when it comes to peoples careers!
Anyway, I am with this small (very small) company where I am only 1 of 2 trucks in the fleet....I love the personal side of this. (no qualcoms, big company cut backs, etc...) But ####, they are killin me! They have so many dreams and things they are "working on." (Like hauling excavaters and seriously heavy crap on low boys...and I want that!) However, seems to be more "down time" due to truck issues than anything else. I really don't know what to do!
At the risk of hearing a bunch of UNWANTED CRAP on here, I just bobtailed home in a 95 Freightliner that needs the brakes adjusted so badly I had no choice but to use my jakes in the rain. Seriously my knee is killin me from putting it through the floor tryin to get this thing back safely! First run out I had my drivers door flyin open all night on my way to Ok city. (good times) windshield wipers remind me of the little engine that could. (or in this case couldn't)On one hand I believe in this little company and that they are doing all they can.....on the other, I need to work and seriously make money.
I came here prepared to "starve" for a minute while we work through the kinks, but I don't see how I can "starve" AND deal with an unsafe truck. For now I guess I will see what repairs get done while I am here, but thinkin I should put applications in elsewhere just to have a plan B!
Any thoughts???? -
BTW... on UAs - you shouldn't be signing the seals on the sample vials if you don't agree that the process was 100%. Never had a problem like those described here on any of my UAs. -
Iron Pony, although you are right about not signing the seals after such a fumbled collection process, I was ignorant to the regulations.
That is the major problem here, and one I have now learned the hard way. When I drug tested here it was at a lab, I was present the entire time, and the sample was given at once. Knowing the DOT regulations now, it was clear that the process was as it should be. Hindsight can be twenty twenty and I just never had a reason to study al the do's and don'ts before this. I hope everyone else who reads this can learn from my mistake and NOT sign if the collection wasn't done appropriately!
I probably will dump this company, but I am going to see what they are willing to put into reparing this first. I am meeting them at 11am and I'll know then what to do as I won't take her out again if certain things are not taken care of today. (or atleast over the weekend if they need extra time) -
Cool man - with CSA2010 coming on being with a carrier that will provide you with safe, compliant equipment is really going to be important. Brakes out of adjustment are an out-of-service thing!
FOR THE RECORD:
Anyone reading this thread - if there is any impropriety at all in a UA collection process, REFUSE TO SIGN THE SEALS AND DEMAND TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR!
Educate yourselves on how this is supposed to go down, and DEMAND that the process be followed to the letter!oldweiser2 Thanks this. -

call John Hancock the director of driver training and recruiting or Don Lacey in Safety. If this has happened then its important that they know so they can examine the practices of their testing department. John has always been very good at listening to driver issues and taking care of what needs to be done.
