Hi, This is my first post. I have a question that keeps me awake at night, and i hope someone can answer so i will know one way or the other. My husband went to cdl training school, got cdl's with Hazmat/tanker indorsement, started to work at company driving otr. He has covered almost all E. Coast States, he got fired after only 5months. He was fired for 1 load shift non recordable acc. and 1 preventable acc., and for logbook errors, but logbook errors are not listed on DAC report or his PSP report. When my husband went to get his MVR awhile later, to look for another job, he had a suspended license, We both freaked, Our son didn't turn in tag, and it was in my husbands name, we got it taken care of but now it is still on his dvr. With all this is there any chance for him to ever hope to drive otr, or local again, or is he wasting his time trying. I am just looking for answers. Thanks so much for any advice given. I should mention that he had cdl's for 3-5 yrs before all the new regulations came into effect, with no accidents or violations. Thanks, again

Wow, What a run of Bad luck! I will address these 1 at a time.

Load Shift - This depends on the details. If it was his Fault(ie he failed to secure load properly) Or he was not responsible because it was a sealed load he didn't get to inspect. Then This will determine how other companys view. His fault Gonna be hard.

Preventble Accident. Most Companys allow you 1 or 2 in 3 years. However with the other issues Don't look promising.

Log errors - If only found by Company it a non issue, if on his CSA points are points

License Suspended - Ussually a deal breaker But if he can get a letter from your state explaining it again depends on company.

All in all I would say his chances are not promising to be hired but, Try a few of these companys

    CRST
    CR England
    Swift
    Stevens
    Star Transport (Morton Il)
    Star Transportaion (Nashville TN)
    Prime
    Trans Am

    Good Luck

He will be able to find another driving job, it just may take a while and it will not be with a larger company.
He needs to look at local OTR and regional company's, or local if he does not want to be on the road.
It will take a while, but he should be ok.
The PSP will track him for 3 years on normal violations and 5 years on accidents that are DOT reportable.

    reallywantstoknow Thanks this.

The accidents are probably the stumbling block. Probably gonna be hard but all he can do is apply anywhere he thinks will give him a chance. Might try WBT they haul alot of trash/wood chips around your area based in Hazlehurst Ga and were not so picky years ago but I have not hauled around them in years so????

Good luck but with only 5 recent months of experience and the holidays coming don't let the grass grow. Start looking now or it may be well into the new year before he could get back to work.

Thanks Eagle Eye for your prompt response. First the load shift was due to braking to hard, which was due to car crossing over in front of truck, he could only inspect back of load on preloaded trailor, it did have slide mat at rear near door, he could not tell at time that slide mat was not in front of trailer. But as to my understanding driver is responsible was everything no matter what. As far as logbooks, audit within company, not listed anywhere except on dismissal letter. I just hope that all his hope is not gone. There is also no record of accidents anywhere except on his DAC report and his dismissal letter. Thanks, again

So if it was due to braking hard, wouldn't that pretty much put him at fault?

clbell66, that was like 15 years ago, did not renew cdl at time of new regulations, he recently went to training and returned to driving.

What does yur husband want to do? If he's had a cdl before , i would think he should know how the industry works and how long did he drive before and with who?
